Strength:

low weight, stylish appearance

Weakness:

battery life, hard drive, support, value AAC dependency

VERY DISAPPOINTED with ipod. First year, was somewhat smooth. However, shortly after warranty had expired, ipod started skipping, hard drive failed and battery life was not useful. Brought ipod to apple store only to be denied any type of trouble-shooting or respect as a customer. The Towson, MD did offer to sell me a new one for $300 or offered me a service request for $250 (w/o helping to diagnose a problem.) I understand things happen, so I tried to handle the issues of failure w/ their store...only to be ignored as a customer. I will NEVER BUY an apple product again.

Strength:

big and bright screen

Weakness:

msrp 399.99

Hands off the latest generation Ipod tops every single Mp3 player out there. Not a real mac fan but this is a must have if your a music lover like me. Smaller yet more powerful than the last generation and with a crystal clear screen. This proves Apple is number one in pioneering technology. Not only can you listen to movies but you can also store photos( unneccessary ) but a better aspect is you can download and playback videos which is always fun to have in case you travel alot. Battery life could improve but i gotta admit.. i'm not going to spend 20 hours out of the day just listening to music, i work and i go to school so 14 hours is more than enough before i plug it back in and charge overnight. Overall this is an awesome piece of equipment. i recommend this to anyone who wants to cram in all their cd's into one little device to play anywhere you like. MSRP:$399.99

Strength:

Not in an Ipod

Weakness:

It is weak at best.

What a piece of junk!!!!!!!!!!!! Christmas 2005 - Christmas 2006 3 replacements. I went to the local Mac store and all I received was a blank faced idiot asking “what do you want me to do with it”. I felt like telling the moron what to do with it! I have a Archos Jukebox and though its heavy, the batteries last only a couple of hours it still lives and it has seen a lot more time bouncing around in my car than the Ipod could dream of! Can I give this garbage less than 0?

Strength:

looks cool, many GREAT features, music menus organized well

Weakness:

sound drops out between tracks, only fair audio quality

I regret that I will have to return the iPod model MA147LL that I purchased, due to a serious software bug and/or design flaw. When playing tracks that are meant to flow continuously from one into the next the iPod interrupts the sound and blanks out for a moment between tracks. It does this EVEN WHEN RIPPED TO .WAV files which do NOT have this problem with other manufacturer's players. HOW could such a serious design issue pass quality control and get out undetected and or unfixed from Apple? SHAME on them, I expected better.

Strength:

great sound ease of use multi-tasking ability

Weakness:

headphones arent too comfortable, but i seldom use them

I first bought the 40gb click wheel model last year, when the iPod Photo arrived I sold the 40 GB model and got the 60 GB photo model. I love this thing. It holds all 500+ of my cd's and tons of pictures from the digital camera. It can do so much and when playing back from the dock thru my stereo the sound is every bit as good as any cd. You can find any and every kind of add-on to enhance the use of it's music and photo capabilities. I have an apple laptop so i haven't ever had any issues of connection of itunes working correctly. Some fuss at the price, but I wasn't at all detered considering what this unit will do.

Strength:

Menu and Software. Sound Quality. Size. Accessories.

Weakness:

Packaged headphones.

I ditched my Zen that I owned for 1 month for this photo 30gb and I am so much happier. This is an excelent player for four reasons. The menu system in this unit is super-intuitive. The sound quality (with other headphones) is great. The storage size for the size of the unit is a huge plus. And most importantly for me, thousands of accessories to choose from.

Strength:

great pictures incredible sound user friendly

Weakness:

apple needs to make a video player that would make it damn near perfect, and they would destroy the competition

Excellent mp3 player user friendly the color photos are great on this and also becuase its in color its easy to read the Ipod photo has to many features to list here, but its definately worth the cash, sound is top notch i ditched the headphones it came with and bought the shure ec3's and the sound is just as good as auditioning high end speakers, I highly recommend this product.

Strength:

Great sound, great user interface for both the ipod and its companion software, itunes. Fun to use, atractive. lots of miscellaneous add on accessories available to customize the player to your needs. I recommend a line out (there is one on the dock) if you are going to be using an external amplifier (home or car stereo or a headphone amp).

Weakness:

The design and interface of the companion software is great but it is buggy. Sometimes itunes & the computer won't recognize the player and sometimes the player and itunes will just freeze up and become unresponsive, requiring multiple computer restarts. It could be a problem with my Operating System, but it is still annoying.

This is an excellent product. It is easy to use, has great sound, and there are many accesories that you can add to customize to fit your needs. I am mainly using it at work with a headphone amplifier (headroom total bithead) and a my sennheiser headphones (sennheiser 497). The sound is great and it is very fun to use. I love having all of my favorite tunes right at my fingertips. I put it on shuffle then just cruise through my workday. With ~4000 songs, I rarely hear the same song twice. The companion iTunes software integrates very well with the iPod but it does have some problems. The interface, like the iPod, is deceptively simple. It is easy to use but has all kinds of options when you start digging into the preferences. It is a great complete digital audio solution (especially if you want to expand it and stream to your home stereo with airport express and artunes). I do occasionally have problems with itunes and my computer(mac os 10.2) not recognizing the ipod when i plug it in to the computer. Also, ipod/itunes will occasionally freeze up. I am hoping that updating the mac's os to 10.3 will cure that.
