Weakness:

Had to think on this: the connectors for the 300ohm antenna are'nt screw types. Yeah, that's it.

I had already had a 2270 for 6 years (see above review) which I thought was the bees knees. I figured I would buy a 2nd one for the bedroom. When I plugged it in I was very surprised! It sounded better than the 1st 2270! So I had my old friend repaired and it sounds like it should. Like many fine pieces of audio equipment, these two 2270s have distinct differences in thier sounds, like personalities. You here a lot of people proclaim the 2270s ability to push speakers very loud and clear. I live in an apartment and I enjoy the ability of the amp. to deliver very FULL music at soft to moderate levels. I'm not sure but I think that points to the amp's superior efficiency and dynamic range. Both have become very important in my everyday life. Incedentally, the spkrs mentioned in the above review were Imperial 6 not Imperial 3. Thank you.

Strength:

Solid construction, doesn't get hot, weighted flywheel.
Tuning meter.

Weakness:

weight?, no remote! haha. Will not fit in my current cabinet, the unit is too deep.

I got my 2270 from my brother-in-law for a total of $50, which included a Marantz turntable and a cabinet. I was thinking of selling it to get a new A/V receiver and other stuff, but now I'm sure I'll keep it around. I guess if I had two more I could have a 6 channel surround? Anyone ever try this? The only problems I have had are some of the light bulbs have burned out and the power switch is also sticking. If anyone knows where to get these parts or how to fix it let me know, I don't mind doing the repairs myself.

Strength:

Addictive performance

Weakness:

I know of none except, maybe, that it is no longer made!

Each day before I sleep I give thanks for my 2270 - and each morning as I rise I do the same. I have found time to spend an hour or so a day sitting in front of this amazing thing and doing some serious listening. And to describe what is so addictive and compelling about it -
the 2270 is accurate, oh-so-sweet sounding and wonderfully tight. It blows a new DENON AVR3500 completely away, as it does all the other amps I have.
It was from this series of reviews that I first discovered what a collector's item the 2270 is, and it will take a serious event indeed to separate me from mine.
Being a two and a half decade audio technician in the repair and service field, I have lovingly restored my 2270 to absolute mint condition and have to say that not to many 1970's pieces of equipment would warrant having that much effort invested in them. However,in the case of the 2270 the machine is worth it's considerable weight in GOLD!
If you happen to find one, bundle it up, take it home and guard it with your life. And I'll be reading your review soon enough.

Strength:

incredibly smooth and natural sound, much like an aged Gibson acoustic guitar.

Weakness:

haven't found any.

I saw this big guy at a garage sale along with some very fine Marantz Imperial 3 speakers. I took everybody home broke out the tuner cleaner and found myself with a new main
system. Everyday I fall in love with this work of art again.
Every feature works and the speakers are in perfect condition, I have no fears of pushing them, but then again I
don't need to.
