Strength:
Easy to use
Weakness:
Everything other than ease of use This integrated amp/receiver, or whatever the hell else you want to call this rubbage, sucks orangatang feces. Not only does it look like something that passes through a primates bowell, it sounds like a constipated ape who just had his balls cut off one at a time. Similar Products Used: Noe |

First of all, I don't understand why you guys willing to pay about 2k and all you do are bitching about the remote control. To me: the sound, build, and power(amp.) that's matter. Second, most people buy DVD cause for the video quality, not for using to listen to the cd (if you're build a hometheater system, I begged you all have had good CD players). That's my opinion, I could be wrong. Last but not least, thanks for all the info on the YAMAHA DSP-A1. BTW, enjoy with your new gear. You made the best choice, no mistaked there. |

This unit is Yamaha's very best in home theater. With the advent of all the new receivers coming out (IE. Denon 5700, Marantz SR-18, B&K AVR 202, etc) Teh DSP A1 is the only amp on the market with a proven track record of glitch free operation. |

This amp is great for both music and movies. Heard an A/B comparison between this unit and denon 5600 and the Yamaha sounded much more full (more depth to the music). We had the 5600 but returned it after hearing the yamaha. Also had problems with Denon "overload" light showing up even at low volumes. The Yamaha has operated flawlessly. I'm not sure how the 5700 sounds, but it will definitely be more expensive than the A1 (and not necessarily better sounding). Yamaha reliability seems to be top notch. Five star rating for the DSP-A1. |

I bought A1 two weeks ago and spent at least three or four hours a day using it. I also have a DVD player(sony 7700)and a couple of DTS DVDs (including Daylight, Waterworld etc). I quite enjoy the various DSP of A1, particularly the Movie theatres DSP, they are great with DTS DVDs. |

:-) Hi all... After reading those comments and experiences from each of you, I can't hold my breath any longer to join the forum :-) I own the A1 for about 2 mos. now and I love it just like most of you here....Just to get my vote clean and healthy, the A1 is not just sound good (hehe...besides the bulky and full loaded features !) but...it looks good too !!!....My good impression about it is its weight!....That's proved to be delivered the exact high power as it is "announced"...Not like others which claims 100Wx5 or 140Wx5 but you can actually lift it with one hand from one end ! :-)...I mean the deep and tight bass comes from that heavy weight,...works as always... |

Price is too high in Canada and USA, it doesn't worth to buy it, it's cheaper in Hong Kong, HKD 9000 with golden finished (around USD 1160), and if i have to pay USD 2000 or more, i will buy the Denon AVR 5700 or B&K AVR 202.....because their quality is better quality (see the specification for their component they used, you will see the difference!) |

Still the king of kings. This baby has it all. The best in DSP processing, home theater and ease of use. The amps are solid and musical. Build quality is outstanding. The DSP A1 in many ways in better than the Denon 5700 or B&K AVR 202. Don't let people on here fool you. |

I really can't imagine how the A1 sucks. It is certainly not perfect, but it does not suck. It is still one of the best receivers, in terms of the sound quality, processing power and hardware reliability. It is only up to one's own preference in determining which one of the Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, or even the B&K (note the quality problems) be better. But don't forget what the street prices are. Anyone could get a brand new gold finished A1 shipped at no more than US$1,600 (inclusive of Fedex charges), provided that he don't care about warranty (I do really care if it is a B&K). At this price, I would consider the A1 much better value than its rivals. No doubt 5 stars in value. |
