logic7 for dsp-a1

I love this DSP-A1. Thanks Bong Garcia for explaining your set-up. I tried that set-up to my dsp-a1 since only this unit is capable of doing logic7 of lexicon. I'm stunned and very impressed on channel separation and detailed sounds everywhere. DSP-A1 is really versatile.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!! Sorry Im trying to regain composure from someone saying that Sony outperformed something, especially Yamaha. That is the most hillarious thing I have ever heard. Especially since this is Yamahas first amp using high current, discret processing, newsflash 795 isnt either. Ok, despite what you will read later from some body, who will remain nameless in my review, anyone that says its lack of a tuner is a major hinderance, let me explain something to you, THIS IS AN INTERGRATED AMP, NOT A RECIEVER!!!!!!! The only difference between a reciever and an intergrated amp is the tuner, genius. It does have too many DSP modes, but that is not a drawback, since Yamaha makes the best in the buis. Dont let anyone fool you, I dont care if your a "Sony-Bose" Guy or Gal or not, Sony sucks, they have done three things beneficial to this world, Playstatioin, Wega(vega) XBR televisions, and SDDS, maybe Digital 8 camcorders, but NO, NOT MINI DISC. This intergrated amp is cream of the crop in many ways, just ask Home Theater Mag, and Audio Visions (Stereo Review) this is choice, I just wish it was THX, damn, oh well.

yamaha dsp-a1 i just purchased this unit and i'm very impressed, with 7-channel its amazing and natural. One thing i'm gonna tell you about its versatility, aside from dts buitl-in decoder and six-channel input,i tried to hooked up another 2-side speakers(just like lexicon's 7-logic)by mixing front and rear effects using my old mini-component(auxilliary input)making 9.1 channel, and finally adjusting front effect time delay....presto! it was stunning, the seperation was really total, spanning was smoother and best of all very clever. I'm reserving this set-up for my new and bigger home theater.

What more can I say about the DSP-A1. It sounds Awesome!!!! I told a friend about the A1 when I saw it for the first time. The next day my friend tested it at the local a/v store and bought it. 2 months later, I purchased mine and have been blowing away my neighbors since. I have the Pioneer Elite CDL laser disc player with an optical output, so I've got DTS. The soundtracks sound unreal through the A1. I keep the dial at 9 o'clock and its loud. REALLY LOUD!! The bass extension helps out a lot if you don't have a sub, and I love the settings for the center channel speaker. I have the B&W 600 series loud speakers. 602 for fronts, CC6 center, and 601 rears. With this set up, you can't go wrong. The sound is crisp and clean with tight bass that hits in the chest. I would high recommend this intergrated amplifier to anyone. My future father-in-law is a die hard audiophile, who listens to music through a vaccum tube system. His ears are very critical when comes to audio, but when he heard my set up with the A1, he loved it.

Strength:

Sound quality, dd, dts, lots of inputs, built quality

Weakness:

remote, older model.

Awesome power, sound quality, built quality, what can I say that hasn't been said. Totally happy with this purchase.
I had the HK 7000 but after 4 units, they refunded the hole amount, no problems with this Yamaha. too bad the HK sounded great too, but very unreliable. Enough said about HK.
The DSP-A1 is a bit outdated with what is out there, but if you get back to basics, Stereo, DD and DTS, this machine rocks. because of its age, it is discounted and you should get it at a good price.

The DSP-A1 continues to please day in and day out. DD and DTS are superb. DSP modes are actually listenable. the amps drive my Def Techs with ease. Alot of pleasure for the money.

Strength:

Purity and Clarity of Sound, Ability to Romp! on DTS and DD movies.

Weakness:

Poorly designed Remote Control

I've had my DSP A1 for a little over a year now. I've read where people didn't think it performed well on music. I have to disagree. Although it may be my speakers that make the difference (Infinity Preludes in the front with a Velodyne 18F180XR sub). I auditioned the system with these speakers and was amazed by the life-like soundstage. I do have to agree though, that this integrated amp will make you jump off the couch when watching DD and DTS movies. I couldn't be more happy with my investment. My wife likes it too (I got the gold version with wood on the sides, it's like a nice peice of furniture to her)
