Strength:

Weakness:

sound

This unit is a clunker.

Bought it used to power my AV system. Sounded terribly bright and bass heavy. Brought it upstairs to hook up to my higher end speakers. It was even worse!

No wonder why someone was selling it for 200 bucks.

Strength:

None that I have heard

Weakness:

Several

It was cheap (399 + shipping), but it sounded it.

Save your money for an audiophile model that is designed to sound good, not sound good on paper.

Strength:

I like everythig about it.

Weakness:

None that I know of.

I use the Nad 216THX in my surround system to drive my Dali 909s. I must say that I don't know what many other people on this site complaints about. They must have had very bad luck with the rest of the components. I think it's a very good low budget amp.

I must say this is a hell of a amp. I have listening on both the 216 and 218 amplifier, these two kick ass. I can´t believe when people complain about NAD, i have owned Nad since the middle 80´s, and their products have always been satisfying. Their philosophy is clean design and shortest way of the signal. Unfortinally i´m going to replace my Nad 216 and 218 amplifier with the new Sony STR-DA777ES Dolby digital reciever.

Home theather contains:
Sony STR-DA777ES (Soon)
Pioneer DV717
Atlantic 370 (L,C,R rear and sub)
Tara-labs cables
Davis Cinema One (Projector)

nad 216thx is the nearly best when it comes to bower and have a very good sound. The nad 218thx is bigger butt nad 216thx is absolutely enough for me. With some good speakers you can really make some very good sound.

Strength:

give up.

Weakness:

I havent found any yet, and i don´t think i ever will.

I like the sound of my NAD 216 THX and that´s the importent thing. I dont think there is a better amp for the price.

Bought this on sale for $440 plus. I'm wondering whether this was a gray market product. It doesn't sound nearly as good as the lesser priced 214 which I demo'ed at a local dealer. Sounds very 'solid-state'...no warmth or sweetness in the vocals.

Strength:

Power, deep frequency control.

Weakness:

Not good enough speaker terminals.

I use mine NAD 216THX in bridged mode to drive my sub, which is a 15" home-made construction. The sound is incredible punchy, and the low frequencies are shaking the floor. The bass is taught and correct. I do need 40 kg of sand in the bottom of the construction to keep it still, and I am not a bass-head.
