Strength:

5ch amp with 2ch performance

Weakness:

None I can see (OK, maybe Power Consumption which makes the use of Power Synthesizers more difficult)

After so much has been written about this product I may just add my 5 stars for I agree with all the previous reviews. Mine is one of the early models.

If you're looking for a 5ch amp with a superior performance comparable to high-performance 2ch amps like the KRELLs etc. this one is for you. I use it with an EAD Ovation. Smooth, still natural sound with a precise bass attack.
Besides I like the switchable balanced/non-balanced inputs, too.

Looks great - althogh I have heard that prices for the front plate have risen more than $ 1000 lately. Still then a best buy. I had no chance to compare it to a Theta Dreadnut - probably a competitor - but compared to my older DENON integrated AV10 light years (and beyond) away.

Strength:

Smooth, non fatiguing and limitless power.

Weakness:

None

EAD Powermaster 2000 is one powerful amplifier. The sound is smooth and nonfatigueing. Dynamics are great and used with Theatermaster signature and EAD T-1000 cd transport gives me musical nirvana. Great for 2 channel music and awesome for surround sound for movies.

Strength:

Dynamic Soundstage, Looks....Unlimited power

Weakness:

This Amp. will do everything you require in a high end System. Either 2-Channel or Home Theater; the sound is both detailed and very crisp, dynamic yet not fatiging. I've owned it now for over a year and still have no complaints about it. A powerhouse with plenty of reserves.
I love the way it drives my B&W 801's with ease. All the other reviewer's have pretty much covered the intimacies regarding the sound so I won't go on and reiterate. If your looking for a bargain of an Amp. in the high end field than look no further. The powermaster will not disappoint you for years to come.

Strength:

Everything!

Weakness:

None... well, maybe the weight. This thing weighs 144 pounds and is about 2 feet deep.

I have owned amplifiers by Krell, Levinson, Sunfire, Parasound, Carver and Classe and the EAD beats them all. I am still amazed at the soundstage and depth. This amplifier produces more clean power than anything else out there and does it with finesse and grace.

I did not see any reviews on the new EAD PowerMaster 2000 so I decided write down some impressions.... I did an installation here in MN on a highend system (I am a EAD dealer) using Dynaudio 3.3's, Lexicon DC-2 (customer demanded the Lex) and Velodyne HGS-18 for the sub. I spec'ed in the amp base off of blind faith as well as reviews from other dealer freinds. I was a bit reserved since the EAD room did not sound all that great at the CES show in Vegas (Von Schweikert VR-4 Gen II in a bad room using the prototype PowerMaster) but I know EAD will only release audiophile caliber gear. I unpackaged the (144 pound) box and instantly fell in love with the build quality. If you have ever experienced the build quality of the Ultra Disk 2000 or the Encore/Ovation/Signiture pre-pro's you know what I am talking about. EAD does not sacrifice at all on component selection (other than the Ultra Disk 200 remote which is plastic and cheap feeling).Dan Sperry of EAD promised me I would be happy based off of initial reports and he was correct. It outperformed ALL of the 5 channels I carry (and have heard) in openess, base management (tight well controlled base). I would describe it as a neutral sounding amp similar to the Plinius 2 channel SA100MKIII although the Plinius has a little more detail. If you need to drive power hungry (Dynaudio, Magnaplaners, Electrostatics etc) this 400 watt x 5 amp will deliver more power than you need. The Bryston 9B clipped using the Dyn's and needless to say the EAD did not. EAD's reasoning behind the 400 watt per channel is because they felt all other multi channel amps do clip and they verified this at the conceptino of this product (I don't know if this is true or not). Simply put, if you are in the market for a fine (and expensive) multi channel amp that is of Audiophile standards, this should be on your short list to listen to and buy. I fully expect the reviews in the magizines to fall in love with this product. Don't be surprised to hear words like "reference multi channel amp" or better than Proceed etc.
Needless to say I was impressed. I plan on getting one for my system as soon as the supply catches up (3 week lead time but dropping). Hope this helps... If you have questions, or need technical help and do not have a dealer, I'd be happy to help.

I totally agree with Steve's comments. This one great amp. I have had mine for a week and it just continues to get better and better. The first thing that struck me (other than the outstanding build quality) was how quiet and clean this amp is. I previously owned the ATI 1505 which is a a good HT amp. But the EAD is just in another league. Simply put it just sounds great. Clean open highs, smooth midrange and tight deep bass. I am also amazed how cool this amp runs. Only slightly warmer than the ATI. I'm driving Aerial 10Ts for my mains so we are talking about 700 watts per channel! This amp is a great match for the 10Ts. It sounds like I just bought new speakers.
IMO this IS the reference 5 channel amp. I would give it 6 stars if I could. But I will have to settle for 5.

Strength:

Massive amounts of power. Will drive almost any load. Has built in protection circuitry.

Weakness:

None that I can see.

This is the best amplifier I have ever heard. It has massive amounts of power. It made my speakers to come alive. While the ATI1506 is a very good amp. It just is not in the same class as the Powermaster 2000. The soundstage widened, the highs were now airy (the ATI1506 highs were harsh), and the dynamic range is incredible. If you have the money, I definitely recommend putting this amp on your short list.

Weakness:

Price-now at $6000

I bought a dealer demo about three months ago to replace my Sunfire Cinema Grand. While I was reasonbly happy with the Sunfire when listening to movies it was disapointing in two channel (the treble was thin and grainy). I use Aerial 10T speakers which require a lot of power to drive them properly. After auditioning the Proceed HPA 3 and a two channel Classe 301 in my home I purchased the Power Master 2000 along with the EAD Ovation Plus processor. I also auditioned the Conrad Johnson MF 5600, Ayre, Mark Levinson etc. at various dealer show rooms. I wasn't sure whether I could achieve high quality sound with a five channel amp and I thought about using the Sunfire for HT and buying a good quality two channel amp for music. I wanted an amp that would do double duty in my home theater and also provide a high level of sound quality for my cd collection. I am extremely pleased with the performance of the Power Master and believe it or not at $5-6000 is a very good value. I must have talked to 4 or 5 dealers who carried several multi channel amps and they all rated the EAD as the one to own.

I have owned my EAD Power master for a couple months now. It really improve my system. I can say that this is one of the most noticeable upgrade I have ever made. I used to own Sunfire Cinema Grand, Golden Tube SE-100, Rotel, Carver, McIntosh, Aragon 8008BB. This EAD beast kills them all. The power is limitless. Sound stage is wide and deep (speakers are Martin logan SL-3). Build quality is no. 1 (wonderful face plate, binding post is gold plate, heavy like a tank 130 lb). You have to listen to it to beleive. This probably my last power amplifier. I am so happy with the amp.
