Great sound. Lots of S-Video jacks. Very expandable. Woth getting only if 700 $ or less. It is possible to get it that cheap. Then its a good value. |

This receiver literally rocks. Not too defined in the mid section(too my ears) but the clean sound and tight bass make up for it. Comparable to the Denon AVR-3300, which I also really like. Trying to decide which one to get. The guy who posted below me, Greg, said he knew places that sold it for less than $700. I tried to email him, but his address doesn't exist. Can anyone help me out? Anyway, a true 5 speaker rating, because the receiver is honestly phenomenal. |

A great receiver with plenty of power and options at a mid price point. I got mine from www.sounddistributors.com for $850.00 delivered. Fits my infinity speakers perfectly. Crystal clear with plkenty of inputs for future expansion.... dvd and sat. highly recommended. |

I have had my 995 for about 4 months now. I paid $600 for it brand new with full warranty. I received this great price because have a friend that worked for a reseller. This is the best 5-Channel receiver out! Anybody thinking about Denon or Sony, forget about it! They can't compare. Don't make the mistake, purchase Yamaha now and don't regret not buying one later. My System: |

I have owned the RX-V995 for about 1 week now, I am absolutuly thrilled with it. The sound qua;ity is unbelieveable. I paid $899 (Not the lowest price, but I wanted a full warranty. There is no comparison to my old reciver. My Yamaha replaced an ageing (9 years)Technics reciever and for the first time in my life I feel that I did not just settel for for a piece of equipment, but that I got something I really wanted. One Question, What is the major difference between the RX-V995 and the RV-1105. There is about a $300 price difference. Yamaha explains the difference between the RX-V and RV: |

I puchased the RX-V995 a couple weeks ago from a local home theater store. I paid $900 and he threw in a 2 meter optical cable for my DVD player (not a great deal...but at least I didn't pay full price). |

After buying A Harman/Kardon avr-65 and having all the problems asosiated with it(hum, hiss, display problems)I decided to return it and try A Yamaha RX-v995.Id like to say I like the Yamaha better because it seems to be put together well,,,but I cant. Even with all the problems H/K is having with the Avr-65 It still outperforms this unit in sound quality. One feature about the Yamaha that really buged me was the fact i had to change sub settings whenever i switched from DD to dts to stereo or to prologic. Thats ridiculous,Many people today have sub sat systems that use a powered sub. When you use stereo with the Yamaha the sub turns off, unless you set it to use both the mains and the sub at the same time and at the same crossover point.Using a sub and mains playing at the same frequency muddies the bass so much i cant even listen to this unit without becoming fustrated. With the H/K it remembered the sub setting for each individual mode and never forced you to use both to compensate. Also the H/K has a lower crossover which is much better, unless you have a lousy bose cube system. Now im a bit stuck between one reciever that has questionable reliability sounds twice as good, and one that should have better bass management, and less useless dsp modes. |

I am not very appealed by the Denon's 5 channel stereo as a lot of Denon's fans do. But I believe that one can obtain similar stuff by adjusting the versatile DSP parameters offered by Yamaha. IMO, Yamaha RX-V995 outperforms Denon 3200, both in features and sound quality (Denons are very bright sounding for most people). |

I purchased the 995 yesterday and I love it. I had originally bought the 992 on a close out, but felt that for a couple hundred more I am protecting myself getting the DTS and 6 channel external input. 100 watts is also nice. The sound is incredible! I have a Sony DVP500D DVD player and subwoofer and I can shake the house with Dante's Peak. I bought the unit for $899 from a local retailer (SoundTrack) and they were trying to sell it to me for full retail. They claim they don't deal anymore so I found a manager. I got a full manufacturer's warranty and put the money to work in my neighborhood. I don't know why someone will try to save $75-$100 and risk having a possible refurb, or worse yet trying to get warranty work on a unit not purchased from an authorized source. Uncle's said they take care of all warranty work. Yeah...Sure! |

I purchased the rx-v995 about 1 week ago, and I must say that I'm very impressed with this unit. At first, I thought it sounded a bit on the bright side compared with the Onkyo receiver I was using. After a short while, my ears adjusted and I could hear improved sound from my laserdisc player,cd,vcr, and tv, much better than ever before. I purchased it for $1285 canadian (app. $835 amer.) and to get all the features for that price (100Wx5, Super vhs inputs for all video, DD&DTS, good macro remote, etc..), I think it's a steal. |
