Strength:
Incredible sound. Front effects channel. Connector options. DSP effects.
Weakness:
Flimsy remote. Decided to replace the Kenwood v2090 and looked at the Denon 3300 and the Yamaha 995 but after listening to the 2095, I had to get it. The sound is incredible (albeit after adjusting all 7 speaker levels). Set-up was a breeze. This unit sounds great whether listening to DVD's, satelite TV or CD music. Although it was a little expensive, it was worth it in the end. Similar Products Used: Kenwood V-2090 |

Excellent Sound

Remote I purchased this receiver in November 1998 and have been happy with it ever since. It is excellent on both music and home theater. I have to give it 5 stars. |

This is a work of art. The front bezel contains the volume control, source selection and on/off: all other buttons are hidden beneath a door. The remote, although large, has learned all of my remotes and I am left with only those that have a mouse/jog feature found on my VCR and THX DVD. I am using 7 channel mode with Monster cable all around: speakers are the NHT SuperTwo’s for the front channels, NHT SuperOne for the center channel, two white SuperOne XU (wall mount) for the rear, and two SuperZero’s for the front special effects, and a Velodyne HGS-10 (3,000 watt) Subwoofer. My home theater is 22 x 26 feet with a vaulted ceiling at 12 feet. While some of the sound effects, e.g. Mono, may sound a bit reverberant, remember that there is the capability to alter them. I changed Mono to a room size of 0.1 and while listening to many classics this did the trick. The sound of this AV receiver is clean and powerful. Hookups, e.g. a CD player with digital fiber outputs, simply plug it in and in auto detect mode the Yamaha selects the PCM mode and frequency. If I had one bone to pick that is it Really deep in size, when Mute is on, the only way to unMute is to press the remote: it would be nice for the volume control to notice motion and deactivate the mute, it would be nice to see the dB level like on other machines, e.g. -48.5 so you have a reference with where the volume might be, and a digital port for software upgrades would be nice. I continue to look at other systems just for fun. And I continue to find the Yamaha an excellent piece of gear that has had my neighbors knocking at the door: for all the wrong reasons though. And I would only trade it in for separates at three times the cost with much less functionality: that isn't happening until I see what Yamaha has in the future eighteen months. I am a loyal listener. |

I want to know if anyone can recommend any place in Singapore where I could buy the 2095 at a good price... I see that CI is from Singapore.. maybe he could help.. I have also auditioned this set in Tokyo..... It's just awesome.. but I believe that there is a difference in the sets that are available in Singapore both in some very select specs and also in price. I would be gareteful if someone could help me join the 2095 global fan club!! |

I purchased the RX-V2095 from a local authorized dealer, and sure, I may have paid a hundred or so more than those who bought online, but the guarantee is well worth it. Anyway--> The 2095 is the best receiver that can be had for under $1500 hands down. After doing a side by side comparison in the store between the 995 and the 2095, i brought both of them home to do a more in depth study. The 2095 was distortion free and the sound was pure at all volume levels. The 995 was fine until the volume level approached half, at which point the hissing from the speakers was unbearable. While some may claim that the 995 is very close to the 2095(as did the salesperson), clearly the 2095 is of superior construction as a quick look at the s/n ratio will tell you. (The 995 is at 85 dB while the 2095 is at 96 dB) For anyone currently in the market for a high quality receiver that will stay on top of the audio world for the next 10-15yrs., the 2095 is the unit to go with. As many other posts on this board have mentioned, the 995 is mass produced in Malaysia, while the 2095 is made in Japan, as is the DSP-A1. In closing, the 2095 is definately worth the extra income and i can give it nothing but 5 speakers. |
