The receiver is GREAT!!! but the remote is the worst piece of garbage I have ever used!!! Thank god I have the marantz RC2000mk2.Yamaha should come up with a replacement unit free of charge to all the people who have bought this unit. The receiver itself gets 5 stars,

There's already so much good info here I won't try to write another review. It sounds incredible. Only two complaints. There isn't a RF in for Laserdisk (but there is an RF to optical converter available from Yamaha) and I wish it was 200 watts/channel instead of 100. If you are considering purchase of this unit--do it!

Picked up the RX-V2095 from Uncle's Stereo after waiting over a month for my "back ordered" 995. After a ton of research and comparison shopping, decided to spend the extra few hundred on what was, hopefully, the far superior product. Had demoed a 995 in the store, but first experience w/2095 was "The Long Kiss Goodnight" DVD. Wow. Sure, the separation and clarity of each channel were phenomenal, much as expected, but I was equally impressed in how the receiver was able to handle the wide variations in volume and tone between such extremes as whispered dialogue and gunshots, explosions etc. Most of the DSP settings are merely amusing (unless you really think a stadium is the optimal environment for concert viewing), although some settings, especially for jazz and acoustic music are genuinely useful. Plenty of room to grow, haven't hooked up the Zone 2 yet.
Ok, so I've got the same quibbles w/the receiver as every other reviewer. Remote is hardly up to par. Truly an ergonomic nightmare. Uncomfortable to hold in hand (why does the little latch on the back for gripping the folded cover have to be so sharp?), difficult to program, with WAY to little memory. But my buddies think it looks cool (ooh, flashing red lights...), so I leave it sitting out, despite the fact that I've since reprogrammed my old learning remote and am sticking w/it until I pick up the Marantz RC2000 or new Philips.

Another (very) minor issue that I had was the unit's depth. It is the largest receiver I have ever owned (or seen for that matter), and had to remove the back panel on my A/V cabinet to make it fit. Not a big deal though.

I do have a general question about the 2095, though. Is anyone aware of an adapter available that would allow me to run my composite video signals (VCR, video games, etc.) through the S-Video terminals on my RX-V2095? Every other component (DSS, DVD) is running S-Video and it does not appear that the RX-V2095 allows for both signals to be output through the S-Video Monitor Out. My DPL Mitsubishi (R.I.P.) supported both signals simultaneously, wonder why the 2095 can't. Bummer.

Just received the RX-V2095 from Uncle Stereo in New York yesterday. Two thumbs up to the boyz at Uncle Stereo (Jimmy), they were very pleasant to deal with. Thanx to Gene DellaSalla aka "Audioholic", who gave me golden advise. I am extremely glad that i paid the extra few bucks for the 2095 because it ROCKS!!!!! With the volume turned up half way, and to have NO DISTORTION is a beautiful thing. I ditto all of what others have said about the cons of the 2095. I too, will be picking up a Marantz Remote. But there are just too many fine points about the 2095. GO PICK ONE UP AND SEE. L8r

I have to say that I should of listend to my 2095 without my ATI 1505 in the mix. To me, it sounds very week without the amp. A tad bright also. I bought it as a pre/pro only with no intentions of using the built in amps. I do however love this unit, It simply rocks. Im using all ENERGY speakers. C-6 for the front. C-2 for the rear. AC300 for the center. ES12XL sub for the low end. Monster M550i interconnect. And Monster Z3 Reference cable for the front 3 and Z2 for the rear.

What a Performer, Simply the Best in the Home Theater Market at Present. If anyone wants to own a Receiver which performs exceptionally well in both Home Theater and pure Music, you can't go pass this one. This Receiver is way up in front, ahead of any other Product currently available in this Class. It delivers powerful, clean and rich sound accross the full frequency range with minimum distortion. DSP Modes are very distinct and fun to play with. This is a complete package of all goddies at a reasonable price and a very good audio investment. Thank you YAMAHA for an excellant Product and this is coming from an Audio Enthusiast who has been ONKYO Products for over 7 years.

I traded in my Denon 3600 and bought the Yamaha 2095 a few months ago form "Bryn Mayr Stereo" and I have to say, this is the BEST all around reciever I ever heard. However, it does lack the PUNCH of the Denon, but the 2095 comes out on top overall. I wish Yamaha would have made this unit with 150watts across the front. I may look into runnig a aeparate amp. Anyway, I highly recomend 2095. Great Job Yamaha!! and thank you Joe for recomending it to me.

I may have lost my fiancee over this purchase, but the Yamaha RX-V2095 is finally mine! I have nine inputs running into the unit, which I bought yesterday, and all have tested out great! This is the first time I've heard any of my DVDs 5.1 outputs (with a $50 Monster coax cable) and I am blown away! I'm scared to even put Godzilla on 'cause I might blow a hole in my wall! I do not regret picking this up versus the DSP-A1 which has a few more bells and whistles but not enough for me to justify an extra grand. I do have to buy an audio cabinet 'cause I've got this thing precariously balanced on a bookcase shelf that's only 9" wide!

hiI have a Yamaha 2095 Receiver, NHT VS2A Center channel and 2 NHT superones and 2 pieced of .... for mains(I am planning to replace these with VT1.2a by NHT)
Plusses: This is one awesome receiver.. Home theatre couldnt sound better than this.. if it does I am not interested(just kidding, but you know what I mean)
Music is great too but I am not such an audio nut to understand the subtleties
and differences. The receiver is very well constructed and is a great addition
to your living room and your system. It has almost everythingI will ever want in a home theatre. My only gripes with this are
The 2095 remote is a piece of crap. I replaced it with a Marantz Mark II and very pleased with it. The marantz is actually a computer more than a remote and it controls everything on my system. I push one button and it switches on the receiver, the tv, the vcr and starts playing the vcr.. couldnt ask for more..
Another problem I have with the 2095 is: The remote has some features that are not present on the receiver itself.. I also wish it had auto power off..
Once I forgot to switch the power off and by evening the unit gotten a bit hot
then I thought why couldnt the dummies at Yamaha devised a way to switch the darn thing off if theres no music is being played? is that rocket science?
If you are paying $1400 for this unit you would expect that feature in it. My $50 pressing iron has it so why couldnt the yamaha?
On the whole I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend it anyday
as one of the best receivers you can buy for the money.

I had my 2095 for nearly 2 Months now. What a difference that this baby makes for my day. I never had music in my living room of this quality. Even with my moderate rear speakers, this baby rocks. My mate spent twice as much for the new DENON 5700 and talk about the DENON 5 chaneel stereo. Who wants 5 channel Stereo when 2095 does it better with the Party and disco DSP's. I thought Home Cinema was a bit of joke in trying to create a mini cinema inside your small living room. Well that was before I got my 2095. Thanks Ted for all your help and advice and also for all the guys at the yamaha centre for your great customer service.
