To the gentleman from KY in response to the amps that I compared between the DSP-A1 and the RX-V2095. The RX-V2095 uses the same components in the amp section as the DSP-A1. Differences are true about the transformer which is larger and heavier for the DSP-A1. In reference to both service manuals the only real difference is the rail voltage to final stage output transistors and minor
varations in the bias voltage. Bias voltage varation will make the DSP-A1 amp a little quieter. The driver and final stage transistor in both amps are the same. The rail voltage is higher in the DSP-A1 to give it 110 w /5ch and 35 w/rears. Weight is not a true factor of quality. I am by no means saying anything bad about the DSP-A1 amp it is state of the art with more inputs and outputs than the RX-V2095. I am just saying that for normal listening use you cannot tell them apart. The only other thing is price. The DSP-A1 m/o is around $2000.00 versus the RX-V2095 with the new YSS918 Yamaha DSP chip m/o is around $1200.00.
You make the choice.

To everyone,

An RKO Radio global internet announcement. All of you have been waiting for
the best price info. on the RX-V2095. The response for this information has
been unbelievable, I received so far 192 E mails for this request. This is a popular receiver by demand. Here is the m/o information listed below:

Here are a few suggestions:

1. The dealers price is rock bottom firm. You would be wasting effort in this
case to get a lower price on the RX-V2095.

2. When you order the receiver, request to have it double boxed for shipping.
It cost around $5.00 but well worth it to help prevent the unit and original
factory box from damage. Also to prevent potential stealing of the unit
during shipment. For a $1200.00 investment I would.

3. Save your receiver box, receipt and warranty card. Just in case you need to
ship the unit back or for repair.

4. If you buy this receiver, do yourself a big favor and get a service manual.
Service manuals have a lot more information about the different setups of the
receiver and more in depth information on the receivers capabilities than the
owners manual. Plus you get full technical pictorial and schematic diagrams
of the unit, which can be a major benefit to you if a repair is needed or if
you have to order parts in repairing the receiver. A valuable book to have.
The service manual information is listed below:

THE COST FOR SERVICE MANUAL IS $18 PLUS $3 FOR SHIPPING.

The amp on the RX-V995 is different. To save on cost the amp has a lowerS/N ratio. The amp circuitry has been simplified. Go to Yamaha's web site under products and receivers and compare the specification between the two. If you are interest in purchasing a quality receiver for the long term future with the best performance I would invest little more money in the RX-V2095 over the RX-V995.
You would till be satisfied 15 years from now.

Based on R.L. Faucette's comparision between RX-V2095 and DSP-A1, I willgo with RX-V2095. I think spending $800 more for a little more quality is
not worth it. RX-V2095 is the best receiver money can buy!

Sometimes one wonders what goodies one can find in a store of a remote third world country.l saw this Yamaha Rx-v2095 in the display room of this newly open store a few weeks ago, its elegant gold finished captured my heart. Where have u been all my life l said to my self.
After a tedious listening session, l decided to sell my house to buy this unit.
Well, l could not afford this thing with my low salary in this part of the world. Yes, l spent half my savings for this baby. l can say it is well worthed it, l will sell my kidneys if l need more cash.

This unit has so much power in it. 100 W RMS/channel (20Hz to 20K Hz at 0.02%THD ohms)
(unlike others with 200 W RMS, 10 % THD at 6 ohms)the power is consistent and smooth. It does not fit during high volume performance.

The DSP trifield is phenomenal. This is definitely the main attractive feacture.
35 DSp program with adjustable parameters(initial para are probably based on small Japanese room size)
Pity that there is no THX but l am happy with DD as l have no Hollywood director's special taste and demand for accurate movie sound stage.

It also has DD, DTS, dobly prologic, tone controls, a 6 inputs for future formats. (When that format replaces DD, l will be old and deaf any way..who cares)

Other features are video, audio s video , coaxial, optical input and interestingly a RF input terminal for AC3. Wow, like we get any DD software in this part of the world. Any way, unlike some kenwood and sony receivers with no AC3 or pseudo AC3 inputs, there is this Ac3 terminal at the corner behind the unit for Ld, DVD DD signals.

l like the PCM thing, l found out the use of it eventually by self learning and trial. It works well with digital cable or analog cable.
The sound reproduction when listening to Cd, music video is excellent. Although l have to admit onkyo and denon is better for home movie theatre with THX, their sound quality is not as impressive. l like the quality of the music of Yamaha, it's natural and pure with no strong coloration of the sound stage.
Movie wise, DD is pretty satisfactory for me and most people.
This baby is cool and stays cool even after 5 hours of high power blasting. Where is the internal fan ? l guess it is located internally, so that l can't see it.
There is this curious resistance switch at the back of this unit but surprisingly does not affect my 4 ohm speakers even at the 8 ohm setting. Actually sounded better with 8 ohm setting. Both speakers and receiver are doing well and alive.
This receiver is not biwired though l tried using A and B terminals together, the sound did not improve.
l like the lighting that lights up when u dim the lights. The receiver looks so pretty and elegant with the golden light. l never notice this until recently.
The damping factor of this receiver is 200. Well above average.
Finally, this is an excellent piece of art. The movies are so alive, so powerful. The music is natural ,pure (DSP off) and has a 3 dimensional sensation. l think my brain has been fooled into believing that there is a real person performing next to me.
Having said all these, the receiver works best with high end components and cables. Without team work, u will never appreciate the full potential of this receiver. Best receiver l think.

I highly recommend this Receiver. This Receiver WILL work just fine using your existing 2-channel mains. You can easily dial in your other speakers to match the mains.I recommend the Radio Shack SPL Meter to do so and the Video Essentials DVD to calibrate everything else.I own the Legacy 1`s and the Silver Screen Center channel along with Paradigm Mini Monitors for the front effects. The soon to be replaced Polk lsfx rear speakers and a Mirage BPS-400 sub.The sensitivity ratings are all differant but I easily matched them with Video Essentials DVD.For the man who keeps using the word prologic. It`s 5.1 DIGITAL.I must admit an outboard amp. did make a big differance in impact ect.

I auditioned the Yamaha 2095 and was impressed by the sound processor and the many sound effects available. The 6 channel analog input may come in hand when DVD audio arrives. However, I too am concerned whether this unit has what it takes to properly handle DVD audio. Also, in comparison on examining the Sony ES 9000, I noticed the Sony had a built in RS 232 serial port for downloading of software to upgrade the unit. Of course, the Sony did not have, nor does the Yamaha have a firewire IEE 1394 digital high speed port for receiving digital TV, digital satellite signals, etc. So the real issue in my review, is whether this Yamaha unit will in 2 years from now be looked upon as a clunker or as ahead of its time (due to the 6 channel high end analog inputs allowing recordings of digital content that firewire digital ports being encrypted will not allow? Putting it another way, will the investment in the Yamaha 2095 as a receiver rather than as separate be viewed as a wise one or as a waste of money. For the moment, and only for today, the Yamaha 2095 is a 5 star receiver. For the future, my crystal ball is too dim to see anything, stars or otherwise.
