To the gentleman from KY in response to the amps that I compared between the DSP-A1 and the RX-V2095. The RX-V2095 uses the same components in the amp section as the DSP-A1. Differences are true about the transformer which is larger and heavier for the DSP-A1. In reference to both service manuals the only real difference is the rail voltage to final stage output transistors and minor |

The amp on the RX-V995 is different. To save on cost the amp has a lowerS/N ratio. The amp circuitry has been simplified. Go to Yamaha's web site under products and receivers and compare the specification between the two. If you are interest in purchasing a quality receiver for the long term future with the best performance I would invest little more money in the RX-V2095 over the RX-V995. |

Based on R.L. Faucette's comparision between RX-V2095 and DSP-A1, I willgo with RX-V2095. I think spending $800 more for a little more quality is |

I highly recommend this Receiver. This Receiver WILL work just fine using your existing 2-channel mains. You can easily dial in your other speakers to match the mains.I recommend the Radio Shack SPL Meter to do so and the Video Essentials DVD to calibrate everything else.I own the Legacy 1`s and the Silver Screen Center channel along with Paradigm Mini Monitors for the front effects. The soon to be replaced Polk lsfx rear speakers and a Mirage BPS-400 sub.The sensitivity ratings are all differant but I easily matched them with Video Essentials DVD.For the man who keeps using the word prologic. It`s 5.1 DIGITAL.I must admit an outboard amp. did make a big differance in impact ect. |

I auditioned the Yamaha 2095 and was impressed by the sound processor and the many sound effects available. The 6 channel analog input may come in hand when DVD audio arrives. However, I too am concerned whether this unit has what it takes to properly handle DVD audio. Also, in comparison on examining the Sony ES 9000, I noticed the Sony had a built in RS 232 serial port for downloading of software to upgrade the unit. Of course, the Sony did not have, nor does the Yamaha have a firewire IEE 1394 digital high speed port for receiving digital TV, digital satellite signals, etc. So the real issue in my review, is whether this Yamaha unit will in 2 years from now be looked upon as a clunker or as ahead of its time (due to the 6 channel high end analog inputs allowing recordings of digital content that firewire digital ports being encrypted will not allow? Putting it another way, will the investment in the Yamaha 2095 as a receiver rather than as separate be viewed as a wise one or as a waste of money. For the moment, and only for today, the Yamaha 2095 is a 5 star receiver. For the future, my crystal ball is too dim to see anything, stars or otherwise. |
