Best amp/receiver I have ever owned. Fabulous sound with music or in home theater mode. Great features. I use it with Rogers main speakers, complemented by center and rear speakers from Mirage, and they make a dynamite combination. Cheap for the quality! |

The best receiver in a class of its own in both performance and price. It sounds in music and movie even better than Adcom separate system that I had before. Similar Products Used: Yamaha DSP A2070, Yamaha DSP A1092, Marantz AV600 & Adcom GFA7000 |

For those who have bought this for around $1200: Did you pay exactly that or less? Did the seller throw in extras for that price such as speaker cable, banana plugs etc? Also, no one has mentioned about the use of the second remote. Can someone comment? |

I have to admit that this is my first home theater receiver, but I can find very few flaws with this system. The power rating seems misleading; I had considered biamping my speakers, but happily discovered that this wouldn't be necessary with the 2095's powerful output. The effect speaker 7.1 concept seems to work nicely. If I had to find a few minor flaws, I would say that the remote's cover isn't useful, and that an additional set of inputs would have been nice. The receiver seems to be a nice match with my NHT VT2s and VS2s. Overall, an excellent receiver! |

I never write product reviews. Until now. Since I used this site to researchreceivers (and because this one turned out so good), I thought I'd give a little |

Set up the 2095 yesterday. This is my first receiver of this class and it sounds unbelievable. Listening to my CD's was a whole new experience. The most clean and defined sound I have ever heard. I was wondering if someone could recommend a Front Effect speaker and also a pair of mains that would be best for this receiver. |

I have read all one hundred or so reviews on this site and pretty much agree with what every one else says. I considered a digital Yamaha player after purchasing my prologic Yamaha RX-V690 about two years ago. I was very pleased with the 690 and simply wanted to upgrade to digital. I am extremely pleased with the 2095's performance. However, I was not prepared for how complex this receiver really is. With the old 690 you simply chose your input, picked a dsp sound field (if applicble), and cranked up the volume. With the 2095 it is a whole different ballgame. It must have taken me several hours just to properly set this thing up. I 'aint talkin' 'bout all the cable running from DVD to TV to whatever. I am talking about setting up the speaker sizes for each individual speaker output, then setting the volume, then setting up each of the twelve DSP parameters that are all individually adjutable, then setting the surround delay on each speaker... Yikes! My first foray into digital was quite a time consuming experience. After three weeks of ownership I am still not finished setting up...partly because I want to upgrade my Klipsh KSB1.1 speakers to Acoustic Research 310HO's. After several DVD movies on the new 2095 I have come to the conclusion that the 1400 dollars spent on this machine to upgrade from prologic was well worth the damage to my wallet. The Klipsh speakers sounded fabulous on the 690, but very dull on the 2095! If you are considering this model of receiver, and you really care about the quality of the sound you expect from it, then you will (I repeat: will) need some quality speakers. It's not that the 2095 puts out bad sound, it's that you need the best speakers you can buy to match the fantastic output of the 2095. In other words, do not put bicycle tires on a Porsche (know whut I mean Vern..) I had to beg my wife to upgrade to digital and to DVD. She was the type of person that could really care less about the audio and video quality unless it was really bad (snow in the picture, etc.). She was not looking forward to "yet more remote controls in the living room". Now that she has sampled the 500 lines of resolution in full fledged digital on our 40" mitsubishi TV, she has been calling me at work every day to meet her at our local video store after work to rent a movie or two. And to think I agreed to give up "you know what" for six months to purchase this new equipment.....My only complaint against the 2095 is this: coupled with my M&K V-75 powered subwoofer, the 2095 puts out so much bass (even with the bass turned down to almost nil) that my living room walls and entertainment center rattle loud enough to make you think you're in the middle of a minor earthquake! Remember how I mentioned that it took several hours just to set up? I am now facing possibly a whole weekend bolting everything down, and installing felt pads on all the picture frames hanging on the living room walls. Give this unit a test drive, and sample the other comparable brands. I am not an expert. I do not have testing equipment that can tell you which brand puts out better than the others. I simply want the best, and I think I have come as close as I can without having to spend a fortune. Hell, after firing 81MM mortars in the service without using earplugs (ie: 20% hearing loss) I can still tell you that the 2095 was worth every penny. My only comment about the other reviews that bash the remote control is that it does seem flimsy, but not as much as I expected. The only thing I need to worry about with the remote is whether my wife leaves it on the couch (an ongoing problem with the eight remotes we have in the living room already) and that I must check before sitting down...Hope this helps anyone in their quest for dolby digital. |
