After purchasing a Sony DSS with Dolby Digital and optical digital output, I found that my Yamaha 2092 was lacking enough digital inputs. I sold the Yamaha and purchased the Yamaha 2095 from Uncle Stereo. It was a delta of $350 between what I sold the 2092 for and the cost of the 2095. Well worth the coin.
I hooked it up and found that the performance from the 2095 surpassed the 2092 by a great deal. I initially could not get output from the subwoofer preamp output, but Yamaha told me that if all of the speakers are set as 'large' during setup, then you can't set the LFE as 'sub'. You must chose 'both' or you won't get output. This is different from how the 2092 set up worked, but it worked. Yamaha said that the bass management system is from the top end theater system, so it is an improvement over the 2092.

The extra DSP programs provide great effects that I used to have to get by modifying the 2092 DSP programs. It is much nicer not to have to change delays, etc. to often. I haven't had the chance to try out the DTS yet, but maybe this weekend.

Fantastic receiver, a great value.

i no that i should not place this coment here, but I want to warn you potential buyers of the v2095,not to do any business with ABC. They work out of a small one room office, they bill your credit card under a differant business name then the ABC,and you don't always get what you purchase. These things all happened to me,and it took three months to get my credit card straightened out. They billed, and never even shipped my receiver. If any of you do business with ABC,you deserve what you get. It simply isn't worth trying to save yourself 50 to 100 dollars. After all the Yamaha v2095 is worth the cost just as yamaha set it. I post this review only because I want to hurt ABC's sales because of how they treated me,and I hope to save you from makeing my mistake. This is one great receiver, and it comes with it's own am/fm tuner

Subject: FW: RX-V2095 information

To very one,

I will provide the mail order information to you about the RX-V2095 receiver by the last week of February.
The reason is that I want to extend my time in paying on my credit card by an extra month.

This unit will come in a factory sealed box with the certified factory warranty.

The individual I communicated with at this mail order company is very nice and is willing to work with customers.

The bottom line price for the unit is with S/H $1195.00 to N.C. "Incrediable"

When that time comes I will not forget to Email all. Good deals require time and patience.

P.S.

The person looking for Onkyo equipment, please refer to the another M/O site. This M/O site does not carry
Onkyo.

Thanks,

Robert

I have looked high and low for the best price and found a M/O companyin CA. that can let me have the RX-V2095 receiver for $1195.00
including S/H with the 2yr. factory honored warranty. Is this
a good deal for this level of receiver compared to other
manufactures? If so I am going to wait till the end of this
month to purchase the receiver so I don't have to pay off my
credit card until the month of May. Please give feedback.

I did find out through Yamaha that the memory on the remote control
for the RX-V2095 does not suffer from smaller memory in storing
configuration settings and macros as does the model RX-V995. It
seems alot of people have been complaining about this and the company
is planning to swap bad for good remotes. This is not activate as of yet.
Go to Yamaha's website and contact technical support. During the mean time
if you own a Yamaha, check your remote against the specification in your
owners manual. I will as soon as I receive my unit.

The RX-V2095 receiver does make the Sony STRDA50, STR-DA80ES & STR-DA90ES perform and look pale by comparison. You get what you pay for.

I would go for the flagship DSP-A1,A2 receiver, but at over $2200.00 I
don't think you could recoup that much pleasure for that kind of investment.

Homie don't play that.

Let me know about the above pricing.

Thanks,

Strength:

Best processing for the money. Ample features. Qaulity and performance

Weakness:

No rear centre channel. Not a serious issue though

Current setup is:
Yamaha RX-V2095 (Main processor)
Yamaha DSP-E390 (For rear centre decoding)
Rotel RB-991 for front amplification
Rotel RB-993 for centre and rear amplification
Rotel RMB-100 Monoblocks for Rear centre and front effects amplification
Yamaha DVD-S796 DVD Player
Theta Chroma 396 DAC
NAD C-540 Used as CD transport
Pioneer CLD Lazerdisc player
Philips Video Machine
DSTV Decoder
Loewe Calida 84cm 100HZ TV
Aerial Acoustics Model 5T Main speakers
Dynaaudio Contour Centre
Boston Rears and rear centre
Paradigm MIcro fornt effects
B&W SW2500 sub 1000Watt
Top Monster Cables all round

THe system as is works great but the heart is still the processing. The 2095 is fantastics and the E390 works very well for the rear centre.

I have not seen any other manufacturer that is close to the Yamaha for processing.

Stereo music sound good to. I think the DAC, Transport and Aerial Speakers help here.

Overall GREAT

I was wondering if Teddy's 3 yr old did the review for this receiver and hook it up to the York speakers.

For music Yamaha 2095 sounded great esp. when set on -10db which gives a little more oomph for 2 channel main speakers and movie sounded very realistic especially with DTS.
I vote 5 star for sound, quality and DSP modes.

All in all, a great receiver. DO NOT use 4 ohm speakers with this receiver, or suffer melt down you will, the capacitors cannot handle 4 ohm driven speakers.

SB, what the heck are you talking about the "capacitors can't handle 4 ohm loads" You dsplay your ignorance about amp design by this comment.First of all the power supply is very stable in 4 ohms as are the bjt's they employed in the ourput stages. Check out this months review in Audio magazine and you will note they rated the RXV 2095 at 405 watts/channel in 2 ohms. Well hey that sounds like it can handle 4 ohms pretty well to me. This receiver has over 58000uF of capacitance, 20lb xformer and a great class AB power amp for each channel with all discrete output stages.
Get a clue and learn how to wire your speakers correctly.
