This product sounds amazingBut I note it only has 20BIT DACs vs Sony's, and the DSP-A1 24BIT DAC's.
As DVD Audio will fully utilise 24BIT at 96khz sampling I have a concern on whether to buy this receiver. Could anyone please advise of any difference I may endure in losing the extra 4BIT in the 2095, when the DVD Audio becomes mainstream.

I love it! 5 stars. Straight (NON-DSP) music is great. Provides enough power to push my speakers cleanly as load as I wanna go! This is not to say that the power is unlimited, merely that with medium efficiency speakers my ears gave out before the amp. With DSP you can get some interesting, some great, and some strange effects. The church ones seem a little extreme to me! I have just started to play with the 7 channel feature but so far it seems to add alot to some stuff and very little to others. One disapointment was that to get anything useful out the front effect channels you need to use an audio or movie mode. The stand and even enhanced DD/DTS modes do not (for the most part) use these two speakers. It has tons of analog inputs including CD, DBS, DVD, 2 VCR etc. As far as digital goes It has a bunch (in and out) of optical and even a few coax. It has full SVHS inputs and outs, but no component video switching. 6 channel in, 6 channel out, and a preamp loop! The remote IMHO is not garbage nor great, just good. Backlit, learning, and lots of control are the pluses. Complexity, size, limited memory, and lack of multi-brand are its weaknesses.Home theater is its strongest point. Tons o power! great DD and DTS. Al sorts of fun with DSP modes when you want them
This next point seems small but is a pet peeve of mine. I like the power/volume knob ratio. What I mean here is that some recievers reach full power by 1/4 on the knob, making it dificult to set a certain volume. I think they do this so that the salesman can say " look how load it is and it is only at 1/4 volume!" This Yamaha (on occasions) lets me use the first 3/4 of it!

This is my wish list for this model
1 I wish that the TV/DBS should the two seperate inputs
2 I wish the TV/DBS was an input/output not just an input. it's there for video but not audio. I would use this connection so that it would feed the appropriate audio to my TV. On some occasions I (well OK my wife) would prefer to use the internal TV speakers. I am currently using a audio out fron the unused tape monitor to acomplish this but there is one shortcoming to this approach. The audio the TV receives controlled by the "rec-out" and not the main input selector that controls the video. this can lead to cases that the wrong audio get to the TV speakers.

3 I wish the remote had multi-brand in addition to the learning

All in all a great unit wit a few weaknesses that are easy to live with

my 1rst 5/5 !

I love everything about this unit and I do believe it's one of the best for the money. However, I have a problem with the sound i'm getting and not being an audiophile I can't really describe it other than to say that there is a ringing or resonating effect when high notes such female vocals are encountered. I hooked up my old speakers and still notice this. I even hear it in some DVD dialog at moderate volume levels. Can't figure this out and have been checking this area to see if there are similar problems by others. I have heard this receiver refered to as bright. Not sure that's what I'm hearing though. I have hardwood floors and i'm using Radio Shack interconnects with the cheaper monster speaker wire but still this thing should sound better than what it does.
As I said, i believe this is a fine receiver ( if it's working correctly) and either i've got something screwed up or it's defective. I realize this is a review area but I feel it's the best place to get advice from owners of this unit. I have gotten some help from a guy who works for Yamaha and frequents the Audio Review area but still can't seem to pinpoint the problem. When I play a DTS disc I have ( Digital surround collection ) the first song " RAIN" has a passage that has very high Piano notes....when it gets there it can almost make you cover your ears. It's like a ringing effect. But the other parts of the music are just perfect and clear. So, I'm hoping that if someone other than me is experiencing this that they E-Mail me if and when they figure out what's wrong. I can't believe ( or don't want to ) the unit is defective as all of the reviews have been so good. Once again, I apologize for giving more of a complaint than a total review. One thing for sure, it's good looking and has a quality build with all the ins and outs your likely to need.

I own this Yamaha RX-V2095 for about 4 months now. I bought the whole HT system
at the same time and gave away all my old components. The first month it sounds
a little bright. But now, after 4 months of breaking in, it sounds perfect. I
guess the speakers are the one that need to be break-in the most. I couldn't
imagine anything that would sounded better. A few of my friends had pretty good
set up with receivers ranging from Pioneer Elite, HK, Denon, Sony and speakers
ranging from Klipsch, Def Tech, Infinity PFR, top of the line MB Quart; but none
of them sounded as good as mine. I used this 2095 to drive 7 Acoustic Research
speakers. AR P315HO front, AR 208HO front effect (will upgrade to AR 308HO),
AR CS25HO center, and AR THE-EDGE rear effect. Placement plays a major role in
my HT set-up. I spent a lot of time messing around with the speakers position.
I couldn't be any happier right now. Paid around $3,000 for the whole system
including cables. I'm very happy with the 2095 performance. It has plenty of
power and runs very cool too. Didn't need a cooling fan. I love the DSP sound
effects. The receiver looks good from the outside, very solid. The face plate
is made out of aluminum, not some cheap plastics. The remote control can be
improved, but I didn't have any problem with it. I'm using it to control three
other components, Sony C600D 5 disc changer DVD player, JVC JC222 200 disc CD
player, and Pioneer LD player. I love it. There are few minor things to be
improve, and again, to me it's all minor. I have no choice but to give it a 5.

The previous reviewer is complaining about this receiver driving his 4 Ohms
speakers. There is a switch on the back of the receiver that you can select
the impedance matching for your speakers. That might be your problem. We can
discuss more about this on the TECHTALK section.

I have said this before and I will say it again. NEVER SELECT THE IMPEDANCE SWITCH TO 4 OHMS ON ANY YAMAHA PRODUCTS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEAKERS YOU ARE USING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All this does is step down the voltage supplied by the power supply which feeds your amps. Doing so will severely limit your dynamics, bass response and overall fidelity. They put this switch there for more of a marketing and safety tool. Just leave it set for 8 ohms and make sure you have adequate ventilation. Email me or visit: http://www.audioholics.com if you have any further quesitons.

I have had this reciever for 4 months now and love it - I have all 7 channels hooked up and it can push all speakers, and all 6 powered subwolfers I have hanging off it. I have not been able to get the volume past half as my ears gave out. The only downside is the remote - but show me a componet with a good remote - I went out and bought the Phillps pronto which solves all my problems - remote wise - evan my mother can operate it..... I don't think you would go wrong with this reciever.
Enjoy

I have just received my Yamaha 2095 and it has already WOWWED me with the DSP modes, clarity and sheer power. It is also a sophisticated looking piece. Very easy setup and after a few minutes with the remote, we were blasting off ! I upgraded from the Yamaha 905 for the DTS so I was already aware of the Yamaha difference but the 2095 exceeded my expectations. This unit is a must see and hear for anyone serious about getting quality equipment with bells and whistles. All facets of this unit rates:

Jeb, I don't care what the magazines say. When I connect my 4 ohm Dynaudio's to this receiver I cannot turn the volume past the eleven o'clock position for ANY length of time without it generating an immense amount of heat and powering itself down. You must be much more intelligent than I. I was just repeating what the Yamaha factory rep. (that I met while visiting Ken Crane's) told me. Sorry it upset you so.
