Very good clear sound, powerful, optic dvd. dts is cool

remote is small and flimbsy, gets a little hot

Mine died about 3 months after i bought it. I then replaced the blown fuse and it has been working great since. For all you that think that this is a peice of crap get off your lazy butts and buy a 5 cent, 1 amp fuse, and a fan. And also make sure the negative is to negative and the positive is to positive for the speakers.. that may correct some problems also

Great features, high output

Gets hot, bad cooling fan design

Overall I am pleased with my receiver; however, I have been a victim of the heat and/or fuse problem twice now. The first time it was under warranty, but this time I had to fix it myself. Hopefully I won't have the problem again since I upgraded the fuse and added a second fan last night. I have no complaints about the sound or features of this unit, but I do think that the design of the fan not being thermally activated was extremely ignorant of Panasonic/Technics. I can't give this unit a terribly high rating because of the problems, but overall I am pleased with it. It is a shame that I paid $350 for it though since you can buy the 940 for $100 less than that now.

I would like to say thanks to everyone who has posted suggestions about how to fix the problem, especially J.E.

This receiver is amazing!As far as those who say this unit has heating problems,I have had none.I run this unit at or slightly above half way on the volume knob all the time in DTS mode and it gets slightly warm but I leave it open to the air at all times.I have nothing stacked on top as to get plenty of air circulation through the unit.My neighbors love me since I run a 15 inch Altec Lansing subwoofer with a 200 watt Hafler amplifier.My 7 Speakers in my surround system are ran by the Technics SA-DX930 receiver and the Becker Electronics Speakers that are my rear channels can't take all the power that the unit throws at it.Just for info these are not American Becker speakers,They are european Becker Electronics that make speaker systems for Mercedes so believe me these speakers are quality.To sum up this review the Technics SA-DX930 is like a rock and If you can still find one pick one up you can't go wrong.

I've heard them all and there is no question that for the price it is not worth paying $900.00 more for a Pioneer Elite VSX-27TX that has very little if not any sound quality difference than the Technics SA-DX930.

hot. The sound is great and I can only
crank it up to 9 o'clock because its
loud as hell. If you own this product
keep a fan near it on low to keep it

Price - sound - ease of set up

Could use a few more analog inputs.

Just got this Technics receiver (great price for a spare) due to my Kenwood being in the shop. I first read this board before buying and took my chances. I have to admit, the sound out of the box is exceptional. Took ten minutes to set up...manual switches are very intuitive to figure out. I read many complaints in regards to the DVD optical input missing, but I installed my CD player using the RCA jacks, and my DVD player into the CD optical input and I am able to switch between the two by hitting the "digital input" button above the "input selector" dial. No problem at all. I do agree with the reviewer below about the remote not being very "remote like" by not being able to switch between digital and analog remotely. The remote is actually terrible if you were rating this on a remote only scale. Anyway, I am keeping my fingers crossed about the receiver breaking down, but as far as first impressions, I am very pleased.

Note: I just got this, I will repost in a few months if my unit is still running well, or sooner if it goes out (I am giving it plenty of room for air to circulate). By the way, thank you all for your input on these boards. It really helps out.
