Strength:

Weakness:

tuner very weak-no customer service-decieve you with power rating

like most people i wrote a review too soon after purchase if your unit has a intermitent problem. dont expect to get a replacment. technics will make no attempt to help. they said i have a 2 year warranty and if it takes 2 years to fix so what we will fix it tuner is very weak lots of static from local stations(my 10$clock radio picks up these stations with no static in the same location) they rate this at 100 watts(they use a 6ohm rating to pick up the power -most decent stereo companies use 8 ohms-at 8 ohms this unit might get to 70 watts) technics -panasonic is not a good company they decieve you with power ratings-they dont care about the customer after the sale-they dont return emails-phone people can give double talk that would make a government official want to take lessons from them its been 3 weeks since my unit went to the shop still not fixed(wont act up there ) technics acts like i am trying to pull somthing(i just want a unit that works nothing more but thats too much to ask) please do your self a favor and look else where i am not imagining the sound problem technics -panasonic should be avoided at all costs(for cusomer service -poor quality-gaf factor)

Strength:

Very clean sound, great looks, superb build quality.

Weakness:

Lack of pre/outs

This is my second review. This is the best receiver/amplifier I have ever owned. I has a very clean sound and a very low noise level. It is so much better than my old Sony for which I paid $200 more. I does not have some bells and wistles (Pro Logic II, 7.1 output, etc.) but the sound of it is nothing short of incredible. My old crappy Technics speakers sound so much better. I am upgrading to B&Ws all the way soon. I can only imagine how much better it is going to sound. So forget Dennon, Onkyo, Yamaha, etc. go get the Technics and you won''t regret. For the money you really cannot do better.

Strength:

power,sound,features,easy set up

Weakness:

Gets hot,but I put a small fan on top and it stays cool.

Well I have a hk av110 that I thought was good untill I got the sa da10n from technics. It is far better than the hk in every respect except fm reception. I can hear sounds from the Technics that I could never hear from the H.K. The sounds from the rear speakers is so much better and the power is even better than the h.k. The price I paid was about the same as a low end receiver, but I got the sound and features of high end. I honestly have had Denon,H.K,and kenwood as my latest rec.,but none of them come close to the sound of the Technics in stereo and home theater. I would put this Tech. up against rec. costing two to three times as much and come out a winner. It don''t have all the other features like dolby ex and 7.1 output, but I am happy with it and don''t need any more speakers in my room any way.My advice is get one before they are all gone.

Strength:

Very clean sound, Bi-Amp capability Excellent Value VGCA

Weakness:

The unit does not provide sub output in VGCA mode. No pre-outs. Universal Remote is not backlit

This amp was purchased to replace an older Technics 750 model. I was pleased with the reliability of that unit, now about 10 years old, but wanted to step up to something of better quality. I walked into London Drugs to price out their Luxman/Onkyo recievers and was thrilled to see the beefy DA10 on the shelf. Priced at only 599, I felt it was an excellent buy. After thoroughly researching the unit, I decided to make my purchase. On my return, they had only one left and the price had been lowered to 399. Even Better. I used to sell audio components and am well versed and trained on the sounds of quality equipment. Where I worked we sold Denon, NAD, Harmon Kardon, and the odd Pioneer Elite system. For speakers, we carried the entire Mirage and PSB lines. The opportunity for review was frequent and well taken advantage of. I would put this amp up against any of the above and others in the $1500 (Can) range. At the suggested Retail of $879 these were a steal, at $399, my only regret is they only had one left for purchase. Once home, I immediately took the top off for a peek at the build quality. Craftsmenship is good, lots of attention to detail. Wiring and jumpers are kept to a minimum and neatly run where required. Transformers and capacitors are quite large indicating the ability for high current output. I have opened $3000 Pioneer amps that were a rats nest of wiring and looked more like proto-types than final build units, So hats off to Technics for attention to the little things. Processors are Toshiba units ( though technics did try to paint over the labels ). I don''t know much about these however. Once wired, the amp proved itself to be nothing short of it''s beefy appearance. I auditioned everything from Telarc Classical to Modern Rock and Home Theater. Bass is tight and clean, midrage smooth, and highs crisp without being too bright. The VGCA is excellent and brings dditional life to the music. One thing that really impressed me, this amp is CLEAN. I have a number of testing CDs, When supplied with a 0 db signal, at full output, there is no audible noise whatsoever. This is uncommon even in amplifiers at 3-4 times the price. Though in short supply, this amp is being re-released as the SA-DA20. I would highly recommend either.

i bought the technics sa-da10 ht reciver and i have to say what sweet reciver it is. in dts mode the sound stage to all 5 speakers is so good, clean and high end. playing cd''s the music junps out at ya the sound stage is very wide the highs are very clear, the bass strong and well defined and thight. as far as it getting hot ya it gets hot but just don''t put anything on top of it and you will be ok. build qaulity is first rate highend all the way. all and all a first rate highend reciver with out the highend price.

Strength:

simple, elegant, powerful, clean.

Weakness:

The remote is my only complaint. It''s not worthy of the receiver. Small buttons and no guarantee it will operate all your other components. Still, this is easily remedied with a good universal.

This is actually a review for the DA10''s replacement, the DA15. I have only had this receiver a short time, but combined with my new klipsch speakers, I have really been impressed. I honestly think this receiver competes with others over a thousand dollars both in features, power, and sound quality. I have found it easy to use. The manual is actually one that I can follow. The power and quality of the sound are sensational. I managed to find one with black finish since the gold did not appeal to me. It doesn''t have a lot of lights and gizmos, it is just a staid looking, big, fat, workhorse. I have had no problems with heat, a recent complaint about Technics receivers, and I listen to my music LOUD.

Strength:

Price, Power, Versatility, loaded with options, reliable, bi-wired capable, 3 optical inputs, adjustable subwoofer volume on the remote.

Weakness:

No coaxial input. Gold Color questionable

The Technics SA-DA10 is one of the best buys I have made. It is a loaded, jam-packed with options A/V Receiver. The Gold finish takes a little getting use too, but now I like it. It has the look of a real high end receiver and the performance is equally impressive. It does get warm, but nothing major. I just make sure nothing is on top of it and it has plenty of ventilation. The Remote is ample and seems to work my VCR, DVD, TV, and cd player just fine. Sure there are those "audio-snobs" out there that will bash anything with the Technics name, but I bet if you put this receiver up next to their $6,000 amps and played their music through it, they would never know the difference. Summary: For the money, you cant go wrong. You couldn''t touch an "off brand" DTS/DD, bi-wired A/V receiver for this kind of money. And any other receiver (Sony, Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha etc.) is going to be at least $400 for the entry level A/V receiver and upwards for the kind of power of the SA-DA10. This receiver is a steal!!!! I may buy another for a backup or just to have!!
