Strength:

good sound output, powerful, great look

Weakness:

tuner functions awkward to operate, no sleep mode

I was blown away by this unit. I output to Quest 100W bookshelf speakers, and it sounds excellent.. The bass is ground shaking, the mid very much present, and the high very clear. I am very much impressed with this unit (and can not understand what the other reviews are talking about -- perhaps their speakers can't handle what they would expect).

I would definitely recommend this excellent unit to anyone looking for a receive of this class.

[And to the gentleman, or madam -- I can not recall, who claimed this system runs too hot: As far as I was informed, they have a temperature gauge in the unit that will turn the fan on when required. What you may feel is "hot" may very well be within the operating specifications of the components used. Think about it this way: if the fan is built in and ready to use, don't you think that the company would have it turn on when necessary?]

Strength:

Lots of Inputs, looks

Weakness:

Not much power, little bass, more front speaker outputs would be nice

I bought it at Best Buy because I didn't want to spend much money and it came with free surround speakers. I should have spent a little more and bought one with more power, which I did now. It says 80 X 5. I don't think so. An equalizer would be nice. It puts out good sound, but I like more powerful bass. It would be fine for someone that just wants a simple surround system.

Strength:

Great sound, average bass w/5 speakers but really good w/subwoofer, great simmulated surround sound, just gotta by a DVD player with a decoder on it, thats all. Really sturdy.

Weakness:

Gets REALLY hot, no DTS and Dolby Digital, (sigh...)

Great reciever, my friend bought a Sony Receiver the same day as me, he laughed at me... but his makes all these weird noises when watching movies and listening to music, NOT MINE!!!! Sounds great, ive got all the other technics stuff too...(CD Player, Tape Deck, Record Player, etc..) they all work fine, sounds really good with a DVD player with a Digital Surround sound Decoder and subwoofer (VERY NEEDED!!!)
