THIS BAD BOY PUMPS 100WATTS X 5 AND PROVES IT VERY WELL WHEN HOOKED UP TO 4 SPEAKERS AND A SUB.IT HAS GREAT LOOKS COMPARED TO MANY TOP SELLING RECEIVERS I HAVE LOOKED AT.I THINK IT'S GREAT IT HAS THE FAN SO I WORRY LESS AND IT'S SIMPLE TO USE.HOOK THIS TO A DOLBY DIGITAL/DTS DVD AND IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.PLAYS ALL MY MUSIC VERY WELL ESP. REGGAE.

SPEAKER B SECTION IS NOT ABLE TO GIVE SOUND IN DSP OR ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT STEREO.THE REMOTE IS A LITTLE TOO STANDARD.

OVERALL I THINK IT'S A GREAT RECEIVER WITH ENOUGH POWER AND PORTS TO CONNECT EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR A DSS CONNECTION STRAIGHT SO YOU HAVE TO PUT IT UNDER TV.MY SPEAKERS WHICH ARE TECHNICS SBT-300S AND LX70S HANDLE VERY WELL WITH IT ESPECIALLY WHEN HOOKED TO AN EQ TO PERK UP AND DOWN THE RANGES.IT REALLY DOES RUN WARM BUT THAT'S NORMAL FOR ONE PUMPING THIS AMOUNT OF PWR, BUT NOT TO WORRY THE FAN WILL COOL IT.I THINK I WILL HANG ON TO THIS MUSIC,HOME THEATER BAD BOY FOR AT LEAST 5YRS.

Lots of features, nice design, really easy to understand, seperate sub-woofer output.

Runs really hot, bass responds is weak, weak angle control.

This amp is really fun to play with. I really don't mind that it doesn't dive off lots of bass throgh the regular speakers, but with my sub connected. It sounds superb! A lot less expensive then the Sony and 20W more power. The 5x100W amp transfers sound with no distortion.
The amp runs really hot, but only when I play it loud, otherwise it remains warm. Even at low volume which I didn't like. I have another Technic amp that runs on Technics Current Drive. This amp at 250W x 4 runs alot cooler and it has no fan.
The remote only runs Technic products and lacks the control of scanning the cd player, which made no since. If I want to scan through a CD, I have to use the CD remote. What a headache!
The remote should be universal and have more control over other parts of Technics systems. Like the CD and Tape.

This receiver is crap. It runs way too hot, and like everyone knows that means that it is going to break sooner, possibly a bit after the warranty is done. Bass response is weak and I noticed that if i turn the knob about half way the bass gets very distorted. I have top of the line Paradigm speakers, so it must be the receiver. Do yourself a favour...fork out a couple more hundred bucks and buy yourself a decent receiver that's going to last you.

well i have 4 boston speakers and two mtx 10" car subs and my old sony couldn't power both so i got this to power the subs and the sony took care of the speakers 140$ for 500 watts was a no brainer and since i am 14 cost is a problem so this was my choice. about the heat everyone complains about i hooked the fan up to a switch so i turn it on whenever i want.

Good power and performance, inexpensive to buy,
class h+ circuitry, 1.5 times peak power reduces clipping.

the amplifier does tend to get quite hot at minimal volume,
this can be easily avoided by adding a switch.

I would recommend this home theatre receiver to anyone.
The price is quite cheap even in canadian standards,
I am completely satisfied with this amplifiers performance, as well as the ease of use. In my personal opinion the
technics line of audio products are some of the best
looking stereo equipment available.

This is a very good reciever and about 5 times more powerful than a kenwood sony and jvc. It is a lot less money too. So if you wount a good price and lots of power to push your speakers go with Panasonic Technics.

no digital decoding, flawed remote, runs HOT

Basically a decent receiver if you have digital decoding via a DVD player. It has served me well the past 4 months, the neighbors have called the cops twice after 10pm...OOOPS! ;)

6 channel surround sounds really nice with VHS, Im adding a DVD player (and replacing theis unit with a Denon 1801), so I cant comment on that yet.

A fine product for a small system, but lacks the necessary fucntions to drive a nice, large HTS. Solid construction, and runs a bit hot, even at low volumes. One thing I dont like is you cant power the unit on/off with the remote unless you switch it to "tuner" first (wont power on/off if the device is DVD or VCR). Other than that, its not a bad product for smaller systems if you dont need a receiver with digital decoding.

Heat is not acceptable. This unit runs burning HOT (not warm, not hot, but super hot). Apparently this is "normal" for recent Technics units (ie: 140, 540, 940 models). Has a fan which only turns on at high volume. Heat problem occurs even at very low volume.

I returned the unit to Best Buy. Anything electronic running this hot can't be good (for long term reliability).

this receiver is a very well designed. It has lots of power it has enough power that it powers my cerwin-vega's 600 watt RMS, dj speakers.

The only weakness is that its not dolby digital or DTS.

Its good over all. But if you have a choice get the model up, thats the SA-AX940. It the same power only dolby and its DTS.
