Strength:

Lots of power. Looks good

Weakness:

Slow, hard to use remote. Receiver gets kinda hot after a while. Can't turn bass up enough. no banana plugs for the rear and center speaker

I was trying to find a decent receiver and I finally narrowed it down to Onkyo, JVC, or Sony. I found this sony at Sears for $399 while buying some speakers, so I picked it up. I have Acoustic Research AR-318s for my fronts, and AR-216s for my rears (these speakers are awesome and I got a good price for them). I haven't gotten a center channel, or a sub yet, but when I do I'll get the AR-225 for a center, and a Velodyne sub.

I'm not really sure if I like the remote, or really hate it. The remote is a pain in the ass to use when watching TV. When you want to change channels by number, you have to open the remote up, and when you want to scroll up channels, you have to close it (it's a lot more annoying than it sounds). It has a lot of cool features, but its real slow sometimes. But that is just the remote, the reciever is excellent, it has a lot of power and sounds real good turned up. Also, I like the way the controls are setup on the front (I like using it more than I do the remote). The only problem I have with it is that you can't turn the bass up enough for the speakers, you need to have a sub.
