Strength:

DTS, Dolby Digital, Great Styling, Great Sound

Weakness:

Reomte is not universal

I did alot of reviewing before purchasing a digital reciever and for the "Home Theater Fan" on a budget, this is an awesome receiver. I paid less than $130 plus $25 shipping for one new at Ubid.com. This receiver sounds great in Dolby Pro Logic and even better in Digital or DTS mode.

I have Bose Accoustimass AM-3 for main speakers, Bose VC-10 Center, and Bose 141's for surrounds and am completely thrilled with the quality of sound the Sherwood 6095R brings to them. My TV room size is 12x12 and this receiver produces more than enought power and bass to shake the walls.

Bottom line: At $300 this would be a great receiver. This unit has features and sound not typical of an entry level receiver. At the price I paid, it is heavenly.

Strength:

Great sound, pretty good remote, amazing price.

Weakness:

A little hard to set speaker settings, but how often do you have to do that?

I picked this up a couple of months ago on Ubid for 150 bucks. Easily one of the better deals I've ever gotten.

I have it hooked up to a Sharp DV600 DVD (soon to be a Sony 7700), with BIC DV62s all the way around and an AudioSource sub. Although I'm no audiophile, I'm really pleased with the sound in stereo, DD, and DTS.

Nits: Remote is good, but speaker selection is harder than it should be. Have to turn volume above 45 to get decent power.

Overall, a really nice receiver at an even better price. Buy it.

Strength:

Pre-outs, decoding

Weakness:

Had to read the manual to operate!!!! Aggggh! - Tuner

This is another great bargain available on UBID.
This can be used as a pre-amp because of the pre-outs it features. I use a Harmon Kardon amp for the fronts so I only use the amplifier when I go to theater mode. It runs the center and back speakers well.

The controls are a little odd but, cramming so many features into one box HAS to be a challenge. I had to read the manual to operate some features but, no big deal.

Tuner features are weak. There is no direct tuning and no search on remote. Is difficult to set stations. Many better tuners available. May want to avoid this if you listen to alot of FM.

I am getting AWESOME sound from this box. The decoder does its job well. I am running my CD player into the COAX and my DVD into the fiber input both with LONG cables. I would probably lose fidelity with "normal" audio cables of this length.

This is probably an average digital receiver except for the pre-outs. These are usually only on "premium" boxes. They really make this box flexible and a real buy.

Strength:

Overall great for the money.

Weakness:

When I run a RCA video cable from DVD video thru the system. There is some lost of picture during the high action movies. But no problem when I get a TV that has S-video connection. I will just run the DVD video source stright to the TV.

This product suits my needs, for right now. I paid only $114 for this on UBID. So I can't really complain. Ubid does have great deals but it is all the matter of time and reseaching the product before you buy.

It is my first product that has DD and DTS. So far sounds great.I did to get a subwoofer and a center channel speaker and a audio stand and a TV stand and a new TV. This is my little home project in the works. @:-D

Strength:

Great Value & Sound

Weakness:

None so far

Picked up this item on Ubid for $125. I have really enjoyed this receiver so far. This is my first DD/DTS receiver so I really have nothig to compare it to. I just know that the sound is great and I have no complaints with it. If you get a chance to get this one for a great price like I did...do yourself a favor and don't pass it up!

Strength:

Low cost, easy to set-up (friendly interface), sounds good.

Weakness:

Where's the bass!?!?

I bought the amplifyer mainly since I knew Sherwood is a good company, and since the price was very attractive ($550 in Israel is considered cheap).

I'm a little dissapointment since the bass is very weak, compared to my previous Philips amplifyer, and it gets dirty if I raise it too much.
If you like bass - you'll need a subwoofer with this receiver!

Otherwise, the receiver is cool. ;)
The sound quality is great (except for the bass flaw) with music - Rock, Heavy Metal and Power Pop sound great! I haven't tried other genres or DVDs yet.

All in all - this is a very good receiver, and I recommend it everyone who can deal with the weak bass. ;)
