see nitpicks below You won't find a better A/V receiver for anywhere near $600 (new), so stop looking. Plenty of clean, dynamic power at 65W; this baby drives my 4 ohm Seas Odin speakers with room to spare. The 1050 is the dividing line between "Best Buy" grade equipment and audiophile equipment. |

None for me I puchased the Outlaw 1050 after researching receivers here and in all the popular audio review magazines. I was also looking at the lower end Onkyo and Yamaha receivers. I have it paired up with four paradigm atoms a paradigm 10 sub and paradigm center channel. DTS, Dolby digital and even normal Dolby surround sound increadible. Watching the HBO Band of Brothers miniseries makes me wonder how I ever survived without surround sound. I also purchased my first DVD audio disk and it sounds great on the Outlaw. The channel seperation on the Bela Fleck Blue Grass Sessions really shows off the possabilities of the format. I'm still fiddle with the sub cross over to try and determine the best settings for my speakers. Similar Products Used: Old Onkyo |

Strength:
plenty of power ,sounds great ,best bang for the buck
Weakness:
remote could be better. It is like a all-in-one remote ,but it works and no way can it ever be a buying factor The reason I even looked at getting a new receiver is that I bought a set of new speakers from edge audio and my denon really did not do them any justice as far as bass management was concern otherwise everything was ok ,until I got my outlaw. Wow!!! is all we could say when I got it hooked up and turned it on. At that piont I knew my denon was gone. Similar Products Used: denon avr 1200 |

none This replaced the old surround system. Everything good that has been said about this is true. When I first hooked it up, the unit would not stay on. I was very upset. I posted the problem on Outlaws saloon. I left a phone number. Got a call from a Mr. Caldwell from the west coast. It was 12:45AM at my house. It was the best wake up call I have answered. He told me to unhook the speakers and then turn on the unit. If that didn't work to unhook the other units. Turned out the speaker wires were touching. Fixed the problem right away. I had everything up & running by 3 AM. Similar Products Used: Teac |

6.1 that is better than 2.1, 4.1, and 5.1. The 6.1 really does add a lot to the realism of the viewing experience. The standard 65w all around gives you plenty of umph to watch anything. Given that you have more choices and capabilities than receivers of nearly TWICE the cost, you are getting a value that is only attainable with the lack of a middle sales person. This unit is built like a tank.
Weakness:
I personally like big output gauges like those of McIntosh, but that is no reason to not buy this receiver. I would buy this unit hands down until I started looking at products in the $1800+ range. This units trumps all others below $1200 with no exceptions from my experience. Similar Products Used: I have much experience with three different Yamaha a/v receivers and they are all beat far and away by the Outlaw. |

Quality Builds - sounds great
Weakness:
Cannot listen to it before buying (minor point since there is a 30 day return policy) I have only had this set-up for about a weak now. I was considering the DENON 2802 but went with this one instead. I was hesitant at first to buy off the internet but the reviews on this and other sites convinced me to give it a try - I have no plans to return it. |

No for this price range This is one fine piece of equipment for $499. I previously owned a Technics AX6 and thought it was OK. It was a pro-logic receiver and I wanted to upgrade to digital. The search began. Similar Products Used: Technics |
