I reallly appreciate the quality and the performance of the ONKYO 575 receiver.Regarding the hiss sound mentioned by some of the reveiwers: have you all set the "speaker level setup"? if not then go to speaker level setup and make db level to zero for all the speakers. This may resolve your problems.

I have Toshiba 3109 and Infinity CMS2, till now I have no problems with my setup.

#1 No Hiss! If you have one then you didn't set something up right. Secondly, I love this receiver. If you want S-Video or Pre-Outs get the 676. Receiver sounds excellent, love the 5-stereo mode, excellent imaging. I listen to music about 85% of the time and the unit has both great reception and consistent playback. I used to work for Circuit City, so it was either this one or the Harmon AVR65 (also great receiver), went Onkyo because I could get it for just over $300, 1/2 what the HK costs. Plus Onkyo dumped the Motorola chip as its processor (which to me caused loud noise results on previous models).
THD is extremely low on the unit, as well as feedback.
Currently running with Polk RM7500 surrounds + Monster Cable. You pay for what you get. To get high current with digital DTS, at this time your going to pay close to 500 bones. S-Video and pre-outs are a premium, and you pay for that, so people shouldn't complain about not having them on this great receiver.

Started off with an Onkyo TX-DS474 and was very happy with the unit for it's price. So when the TX-DS575 came out I took my old one back and upgraded.Best thing I ever did, you've got the only Onkyo unit that has Dolby Digital and DTS , more than enough power to blow the windows out Of your lounge room ,
S-video Connections, (US model doesn’t) and 12” inch Learning remote that I’ve fallen in love with . Currently looking to upgrade my DVD any recommendations would be appreciated. Also Interested in how everyone connects up his or her gear. It seems everyone has there own tricks.

This is a follow up of my earlier review. It still makes beautiful sound, but I find another problem with my receiver. The right surround channel will make some static noise occasionally. If I crank the volume up and down, it will disappear. I have no idea on why it happens like this. OK, static noise and clicking noise when I play back a DTS disc. I have to lower my rating to 4 stars.

Have had my Onkyo TX-DS575 for about a month now and think its great. Picked up a good price ($370) off of EBAY from a dealer in Avon, OH called Best Price Audio Video; check them out. I have always wanted to try an Onkyo receiver for its great reputation, and I have been quite pleased.
I love it for what it has. AC-3 decoding is awesome and sounds great through my Energy Take 5 HT system. DTS (if you can find any of these DVD's) is also a mind-blowing experience. I use it mostly for DVD movies (Toshiba 3109), but I feel that it has been great for music in general.

I am annoyed by a few things.
There is no S-video input, the surround speakers are plugged in through push connections and not the nice posts that hold the Right-Center-Left speakers. The display light dims, but does not go out all the way.

But overall, it's about sound, and this one can really put it out. It has enough power, that's for sure.
Have to give it 5 stars.

I bought the 575 hooked it up and almost got sick. High current my a#@. I have a 10 year old low line JVC 45watts per channell that drives my speakers better.I thought this was going to be the last reciever I will ever buy. Last onkyo!
No power,no bass,no features, bad remote. I can go on and on but why. I exchanded it for the sony strde935 and it walked all over the over rated over priced piece off sh*t onkyo. All those reviews that love it for power must own bookshelf speakers and live in a apartment with noise ordinance.I listen to must with lots of volume and thrive for detail and bass and the 575 did not deliver. 1 star is all I give!

Bought this receiver after reading all the reviews here. First of all, there is a hiss when I max out the volume and put my ears right next to the speaker. When listening to either DTS/DD or any kind of sound, no hiss whatsoever.
I've had this receiver for two weeks now, I'm extremely satisfied with it. Using this receiver with the following speakers: the Infinity CC2 center speaker, Infinity RS-4 front speakers, Infinity BU-120 subwoofer and BIC Venturi's for surround sound.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this receiver. Totally blew away the JVC-RX884 that it replaced.

Got it through www.buyingedge.com for $411 shipped (seller is Sound City). Now waiting for the $50 rebate from buyingedge (for a net cost of $361).

I am very satisfied with this receiver. The remote is excellent, which means I don't have to go out and spend money replacing it. And the general layout and controls are clear, simple, and easy to use. Very clean design. I can't measure the quality objectively, but based on what I hear, how the controls operate, and what I've read in the press, this receiver is well designed and uses good electronics. Brand loyalty blinds a lot of people and I really doubt there is a significant difference in this "mass market" receiver and the HK, Denon, and Yamaha receivers it competes against. I just feel this is a better value than the others. (About $380 delivered from Netmarket.) From what I've read on these boards as well as noticing all the refurbished (returned) Denon and HK receivers on Ubid, it also sounds like the Onkyo is more reliable than those receivers. The one thing that I really miss having, though, is a little red light on the volume knob to show where the volume is set. It's too easy to forget where the volume is set. As for a previous reviewer's comment that:"First of all, there is a hiss when I max out the volume and put my ears right next to the speaker." The possibilities make my ears hurt. Be careful.

I've had the 575 for about 3 weeks. I haven't had any problems. It's replacing an H/K AVR10 receiver that I bought about two years ago. It does a much better job than the H/K driving my rear speakers. The overall sound is cleaner and sounds fuller. I have heard a little hiss, but it seems to be based on the quality of the recording. Broadcasts coming from my DSS sound just fine.
I really like the remote and the five channel stereo mode. Very nice touches. I finally have a remote that can really control al of my components. It's controlling a Toshiba TV, RCA VCR, Sony DSS receiver, and an H/K CD player.

Solid product. Especially for under $400. I saw the same receiver at Circuit City for $550.
