Strength:
Transparent and balanced sound
Weakness:
slight lack of headroom, and I mean slight in DD with all speakers in full range. I am running my 2700 with B&W 602 series 2 speakers. I have run the system in a large room and small room listening to mainly 2 channel music, and have been very happy with the sound. If you have a cheap CD player, then the Burr-Brown decoding chips will bring new life to your music. It took the new Nakamichi MB-10 CD player to finally surpass the sound of the onboard decoder. Similar Products Used: Pioneer, Nakamichi AV-8 |

I can't say enough about this receiver. At $525 mail order, it is a steal. Very easy to use, and the complaints about having to have a TV to configure it are irrelevant in my opinion. Who buys a DD receiver and doesn't hook it up to a TV. The on-screen programming was straight forward and easy to use. |

I compared this next to the Yamaha RX-V793 and I must say, get the Yamaha. It's a much cleaner, dynamic sounding receiver with better quality. The Denon was very cheap looking, the cabinet flexed so buzzing can occur with it. The Denon didn't have any bass punch or extention. I thought maybe the bass knob was turned downed but wasn't. The dealer said that's one of the main reasons people return it. He said people who are loyal to the Denon name buy the receivers but most don't care for their sound quality. He said most say it's grainy and forward with the bass missing. I couldn't believe thats what everyone was saying, because I thought the same thing. Even the way the the receiver was made, with every function only available though the remote or on-screen menus. For the Yamaha, you could lose the remote and still use all features except sleep and mute, big deal. I just couldn't believe it sounded so bad. I didn't think Denon became that bad over the years. I guess that's why all the magazines give the receivers bad reviews. I never go by what reviewers say because they can be biased but they sure where telling the truth with all the problems the Denons have. I even tried the more costly 3200 and it sounded just as bad. Do people not compare anymore? How could one buy this thing when the bad qualities are so obvious? Well, maybe the reliability is good. I can't see any other reason for buying these two receivers with such horrible sound. I can give only a 1 star because it still can reproduce music, just not very good. |

Strength:
Awesome receiver for the price
Weakness:
DTS I have had this amp for 6 months now. Love it. But do not buy this amp. Buy the 2800 with built in DTS decoder. |

Strength:
Excellent value for money. Great sound, Dolby Digital decoding, 6/ch ext. decoder input, 5-channel stereo mode!!! Analog/digital switch on remote
Weakness:
No DTS decoding. No direct access to audio modes on remote, must scroll through them. A great sounding receiver and an excellent value, I highly recommend the Denon AVR-2700. Be sure to check out the 5-channel stereo mode; I usually don't like DSP processing on receivers, but this one is truly great!! No reliablity problems in the 8 or so months I have owned it. |

I just got it for $549 delevered. This is a great Receiver. It has all the S-video inputs and outputs you may need. It also has three digital inputs. You can tell the receiver which video inputs recieve which digital inputs. Sounds get and not a bad deal with AC3. |

Does anyone out there know how to get the Denon 2700 to sent bass to the main speakers without using BI-WIRING?? I have pair of Infinity SM-85, they don't have bi-wiring input. I am getting a sub soon, but I don't know if this config. will give me the all the bass? |

Ok, let me first say that I didn't write the book on home theatre components. I am relatively new to DD receivers, but I KNOW what sounds good. I have been a home-audio enthusiast for some time. I just purchased the Denon 2700 for 600 bucks and think that it is a great value. It sounds so much more crisp and tighter that my last stereo. The people that have been saying that this receiver sucks either are stupid, biased, or too damn demanding. I love this thing, On screen display, the works! Bass is less obvious than some receivers, but it sounds so damn good and tight that it sounds better anyways!! All of the bells and whistles are what attracted me to this receiver, but the quality is what sold me. I love having the 6ch input, knowing that I can always upgrade to DTS if it takes. If you are looking at H/K, Onkyo. and Yamaha like me, look at Denon too. It beats all these brands in features for the price. I may not be an audiophile, so I have yet to form any serious opinions about any brand. But I can definitely say that my first experience with Denon was a positive one. |
