Strength:

Picture quality, price.

Weakness:

Traditional tube screen can cause some glare, lack of some features.

I bought this TV about a year ago to replace my aging 27 inch. For the money I spent I have been very pleased. The picture qulaity is excellent with bright colors and dark blacks. There have been no issues to speak of as the picture is as good now as it was the day I bought it. I have always heard excellent this about Toshiba products and I will back them up. Highly recommended.

This review is for the Toshiba Cinema Series 36AX61.
I purchased this television two months ago. I was very happy with my purchase, as the tv has a very good picture. However, after having it a few weeks, I began to notice the picture tilting. It was really obvious when I played a DVD, as the letter box margin was significantly larger on the left than on the right, thus giving the picture a "crooked" or "tilted" appearance. And not just a little bit either, it was off nearly an inch from left to right.

At first I thought it was my DVD player (Toshiba SD-2200), but after hooking up another DVD player I got the same results.

After calling the store, they came out and replaced it with the same model. The new tv has the same problem, although not nearly as bad. The problem now, is that I am getting interference from my external speakers, which are the same ones I used before, placed in exactly the same position. Especially bad is my center speaker which I placed on top of both sets. I cannot understand why I am getting interference from the speakers on the new set, while the old set had no such problems. Again, both TV's are the same exact Make and Model, and the speakers are the same and in the same position. Perhaps Toshiba was short of sheilding cloth the day they manufactured the second set?

I am going to give Toshiba one last chance, as I really like the picture quality, features and price of this set. If the third set has the same problems, I will buy a Sony or JVC.
