Strength:

Life-like picture quality, great "surround sound", V-chip, tons of capabilities and hook-ups, easy to install and use, Memory stick.

Weakness:

Remote control unable to program it to work with other stuff. Weight of t.v. is an issue! Need splitter to use split screen if you use a cable box.

Picture quality is just plain awesome. Top of the line. Even regular cable looks great, without a HD receiver. When you hook up a progressive scan DVD, you will never go to the movie theatres again! Really life-like. Sound quality is great. Able to watch DVD and television on the split screen is a great feature. The ablility to enlarge and minimize the split screens you're viewing is also a neat feature. No more squinting to see the second show! However, weight of t.v. is definately an issue. Don't think about moving this one again! It's too front heavy and you have to be careful when moving. Also, you have to use many different remotes to use other equipment. Overall, works and looks as good as what I saw at the store.

Strength:

Picture quality, massive amounts of inputs, sound is definitely above average for casual surfing that doesn't involve your surround sound setup.

Weakness:

Weight.. have I mentioned this thing is insanely heavy? Remote control is laughably bad. No way to make custom video labels.

After calling every store that carried this model for a few weeks I finally found an open-box at Best Buy and negotiated the price down to $1,050.00. Progressive scan DVD looks AMAZING, HDTV is all I've expected and a little bit more, and the Xbox on this thing with component video is definitely a crowd-pleaser. The sound is above average, but I assume anybody putting this much into a HDTV will have a surround sound setup anyway. This TV is absolutely, 100%, insanely heavy. I've carried furniture for an antique shop my whole life and thought I had some strength until I tried to move this monstrosity. This was compounded by the fact that it had no box. Also, the remote is absolutely pathetic. You'd think for such a nice TV Sony would include a nice remote that at LEAST was backlit. Two buttons on the remote also stopped working within a month. That's what programmables are for, I guess. I also purchased the matching stand from Crutchfield (SU-32HS2) and this thing, along with offering the best picture I've seen on a TV, looks just plain stylish. One more complaint I have is you can't program the video labels. You have a pre-set list and on the component inputs only get 'HD' and 'DVD.' What were they thinking? I have component video games, etc. There really should be an option to put whatever you want in there.

Strength:

Good remote. Learns other devices easily. Good layout. Superflat dark tube. Excellent picture quality.

Weakness:

none I''ve found yet

I''ve just had this TV for about 2 months and run it with regular analog cable and regular DirectTV and Panasonic DVD player. I must say that this set has a remarkable picture with cable and DTV. Pop in a DVD and it really comes to life. Never thought I would sit around watching the news with a smile on my face. A lot of money for a TV though.
