Strength:

Awesome picture look very alive

Weakness:

Quality This is my second Sony Tv I have a 53 inch projection TV that the controller board went out on. Sony is only about looks if you are looking for quality then Mitsubishi is the company.

I've had this tv for a 8 months now and sad to say that today it shorted out and I can smell something burning inside. Sony only offers 1 year parts and 90 days labor make sure your buy the protection plan from where ever you buy it.

Strength:

Excellent picture, great volume control, Looks great on the original stand which is $139.00 extra. Very user friendly..Nice remote! Nice crisp "Sports mode". Very nice, would highly recommend! Comes with stereo wireless headphones. PIP feature.

Weakness:

Weight! This set weighs almost 200 pounds, so have two people to lift it when you set it up.

This tv is awesome for the money. The fv's are always more expensive than than the fs's. This unit gets great stars all the way around.

Strength:

Details of image, sound,colors.

Weakness:

None so far.

The image from a DVD source is fantastic. The unit play also very well from satellite signal. The SRS sound is amazing. The headset coming with this tv also work well. Lots of inputs for differents sources, and the unit look very good. A great tv set, i think that what make a big plus in the quality of the image produced is because that tv is build with 3D filters. All the persons comming at home watching it, love it.

this is a 5 week follow-up to my posting in the FV*26* section (as they had not set up the FV27 subscreen back then).

Go to the website: www.keohi.com/keohihdtv/

you will find a tweak guide for your WEGA in which you will get into Sony's service menu.

I had so much fun (well actually trepidation when i first tried it---hearing that i'd screw up something, and the lights will flicker for good---but got over it) tweaking this to the values they recommended. It made the tv set better on the eyes, and really reduced the red (which looks to be too red that it bleeds through) [called red-push].

I then purchased the Video Essentials DVD (made in 1997) @
www.videoessentials.com. You will see many dealers, but not all have them in stock--i finally had luck with CD Universe for under $40.

It comes with a blue filter which looks like a photo negative sheet that comes with pictures after they've been processed.
You look through it to adjust the color and tint! This made an even better improvement...It will tell you tips too on how to adjust contrast (aka picture), the sharpness, and the brightness.

Hope this helps you make your set even more dazzling!

Strength:

Everything about this TV. Specially the 16:9V Compression Mode. Awsome vibrant and natural colors!!!

Weakness:

Weight, Not all DVD players set the 16:9 mode automatically. Price!!!

After about a good 4 months of debate between HDTV or Standard, I went with the Standard set. What made me decide was the presentation of DVD playback on this set. The colors were vibrant and the detail was better than that of the HDTV Panasonic that was right by it. I noticed that the panasonic had many visible pixels that were getting to be very irritating. On the other hand the Sony had very much detail and the presentation of the 16:9 mode was just the best since DVD. You would not understand how much more enhancement this does to the picture. After a couple of days I adjusted The picture settings with Video Essentials DVD. This made a big difference. The colors are exact and everything is just tasty. THe 16:9 enhance mode only works with anamorphic dvds and some hdtv programs. This enhanced mode concentrates all of the scanning lines in the "Letter Box" area of the program making the picture more detailed and sharp.
The audio is also very good. It comes packed with side firring speakers that can really do some damage when you watch Saving Private Ryan. It also comes equiped with wireless headphones that actually work really good. It has all of the goodies like: audio outputs, bass and treble controls, SRS sound, and a very convincing Virtual Sorround Sound Mode.
The remote is very well laid out and also universal.
I would pick this TV over any Hdtv anytime, or atleast they can figure out how to get rid of all those pixels.

Strength:

Amazing picture! Overall looks of the unit. Setting controls over the picture.

Weakness:

Along with others for the "FV26" - IT IS HEAVY - and still thinking about the fact that I paid over $1,000 for a TV!

First off - a thousand bucks is a lot of money for a tv. With that said and understood - a thousand bucks compared to other televisions - especially other 32" Wegas - in the $800-$900 range.......this one is well worth the extra $100-$200. The 3D-comb filter really shows on this set. Bought it specifically for DVD-HT setup and the rest of the set up goes something like this:

A/V Rec: Onkyo TXDS595
DVD: Onkyo DVS555
Fronts: JBL S26
Rears: JBL N24
Center: JBL NCENTER
Sub: AudioSource SW10

For DVD - I couldn't be more amazed. Incredible picture quality. I imagine that it's going to be very hard to convince me (in five years or so) that HDTV and it's $$$$ is much better than what I am seeing here. And I really like the on screen remote lay out. Easy to use and can hone different settings.

The flip side to all this is that with such quality being outputted - input also is at a premium to display a great picture. Some TV shows like CSI - Alias - Practice - etc. broadcasts look great - others on PBS or cable stations that aren't as pure/strong on the quality don't look so great and seem to be especially so since you get used to seeing the good stuff. That however is an input issue - NOT an output issue. Outside of that - I've been very pleased and give it **** only because of the price in my "ideal world." It's kinda like Brett Favre getting paid millions (which I hate the idea of) but do I still love to watch him play? YES!
