Strength:

Geometry. 16x9 mode awesome! EVERYTHING is adjustable via service menu.

Weakness:

Not a great TV out of the box. Red push is on, BLECH!. Pink bars. Scan lines noticeable.

Well, originally I purchased a Toshiba 27A41. Unfortunately that died on me after one month. So I exchanged it for my Sony KV27FS13. And boy am I glad I did. I haven't noticed any geometry problems on my tv like other reviewers mentioned. All in all, the geometry is fantastic, MUCH better than the Toshiba. Picture clarity is great. And after watching DVDs on the 16x9 enhanced mode, I can't watch them on other tvs. (PLEASE remember to set your dvd player on 16x9 mode too!) The sound is adequate, although I am more of a videophile than an audiophile. The tv does have its share of problems; however, mostof them can be remedied by accessing the service menu. See chuckster's site for the fixes (http://www.geocities.com/chuckster042000/Articles.html). This is a MUST! They make the tv much better. Problems? The tv has the faint pink bars on the left and right side of the screen that I can't seem to get rid of. Also, the scanlines are more noticable on the Sony than on the Toshiba, from what I understand, this is due to the better focus of the picture tube as some have mentioned. The scanning velocity modulation is crap, just like on all TV's. Turn it OFF! Also, as some others have mentioned, the 16x9 mode defaultly oversqueezes the picture. Fix this with service menu. Sony also defaults the Wega series televisions to have the Red Push ON. This is horrible and may be why you can't seem to get the color to your liking. Thankfully, this is again remedied in the service menu. After fixing all of these little quibbles(other than those pesky pink bars) I am happy to say that I'm thrilled with the TV. With the 16x9 mode on, the quality is as close as an analog TV can get to high-def.
