Strength:

Absolutly perfect picture, I must have one from the god batch because I don't have the left side line problems most others do, This TV is years beyond anything else besides HDTV, I would suggest working at bestbuy just to get the discount, because I only paid $460, I consider myself an audiophile and this just makes my jaw drop when I play DVD movies through my Sony DVD player using Component Video Cables (you spent allot of money for the TV, you should spend a little more for the best cables) Don't bother with the 20" or 24" the 27" is the best value by far. One more thing make sure you get a good TV stand, I bought the one made for Wega's, it looks great with the TV.

Weakness:

None, well maybe better DVD controls built into the Remote, you can't even advance a chapter without typing in the number

Another person had a great point on thier review, if your thinking about buying another TV because of the Wega's high price do yourself a favor and take out a load for an extra $200 because you will be kicking yourself later if you are stuck with a crappy RCA or Samsung that's using rabbit ears out in the garage to get the local news. This TV was intended for DVD with Component Output.

Strength:

Superb picture,the clarity is awesome.

Weakness:

Weight (100 lbs+)

Excellent TV for the price. Extremely easy to hook up. The build quality and video quality of this set is amazing. So far the only drawback to this TV is the weight of it,had to buy the matching stand because my old TV stand would not have supported it.

Strength:

Affordable Wega; awesome picture, especially when using the component-in on DVD player; flat screen - need I say more

Weakness:

No PIP; only one S-video-in; TV tuner not that great

This is a great TV for someone who's on a budget but wants to taste some of the great Wega quality. It retails at about $599, about $300 less than the next level-up 27" Wega.

Picture quality is great. I have a Toshiba DVD that goes componently into the TV and the image is unbelievably crisp. I was however a little disappointed with the cable tuner quality. It comes up a little grainy, but it's not too bad.

I usually use my digital receiver for sound but I did test the on-board stereo and it was actually pretty good. The 3D sound effect for surround sound was actually not that bad (it does NOT take the place of an external receiver, but for those who can't afford it...).

Onscreen menus are easy to use and setup was a snap. They have a "Favorites" button that you can program to go to your favorite channels in 2 clicks which I find very useful.

All in all, this a great TV for small living rooms or bedrooms.

Strength:

Very sharp picture, lots of adjustments and inputs.

Weakness:

Heavy, sound not great (but who cares?) and the pink distortion on the sides of the screen.

Overall very good. Sharp picture using componant input and S-video (I can't tell a difference between the two). The only problem is the pink sections on the right and left, and the dark spots on all four corners. For a TV this expensive that is un-acceptable. I hope the one they replace it with works properly and does not have this problem. That is the only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 rating.

Strength:

Unbelievable picture quality. Looks more like a glass window and whats happening on the TV is just outside. Flat screen is worth every dollar.

Weakness:

It's heavy as hell. Besides that, I have run various DVD test programs on it (DVD Essentials etc) and never have had a problem. Nothing is perfect, nothing, but this comes close.

I was originally planning on buying a clearance model of the JVC D series for the component video, but when I passed this bad ass I just couldn't help but buy it. Watching Bugs Life on it makes it feel like HDTV. It has all the inputs and outputs I'd ever want, and is relatively simple to operate. If mine broke today, I'd go right out and buy another one.

Strength:

Amazing Picture, set looks awesome, 16x9 enhanced mode for dvd's is unbelievable, component inputs, ton's of inputs, can keep 4 different picture settings, video games look amazing, especially Dreamcast with VM on high, looks larger than a 27"

Weakness:

Remote sucks, but I use a Radio Shack 15-1994 universal remote so it didn't matter to me. Not really a weakness, but the thing is damn heavy.

This TV is absolutely fantastic. The picture quality will blow you away. Cable TV looks great, but anamorphic dvd's in 16x9 mode are absolutely stunning. Video games look great too. Like I said above, Dreamcast games look phenomenal with VM set on high. It make the edges more defined and makes the games look much sharper and cleaner. I think the VM usually makes cable look better too, but there are times when I've had to turn it off, or at least set it to low, because it sometimes makes edges look jaggy. Make 100% sure it is off for dvd's as the video is already so crisp and clear that you don't need VM, it will just distort the picture. It's a good idea to buy or rent Avia Guide to Home Theater to get your picture setting just right for dvds. In addition to the picture quality, the sound is pretty good for TV speakers. I usually don't use my receiver when watching TV so that is a plus. I usually don't watch much on cable but sports, and sound doesn't really matter there, so I don't bother with the receiver. The TV also has component inputs which are great for dvd, and also has an S-video input, I think 2 composite inputs, and a composite output. This is definitely the best 27" tv you can buy, and Wega's are definitely the best non-HDTV's on the market. If you can afford a larger Wega, go for it, but if not this TV is definitely worth the extra money over other 27" TV's. I also reccomend getting this rather than a non-Wega 32" since this TV appears larger than 27"(it isn't though)and the picture quality is more than justifies sacrificing 5". This is the perfect TV for beginners, and home theater buffs who can't afford a larger Wega or HDTV. Wega's picture quality just blows away other direct-view TV's and is leagues above Rear Projection sets.

Strength:

Flat Screen, great picture, acceptable number of inputs

Weakness:

Too heavy, remote control

So far I have really loved this tv, with one exception: Does anyone else's set make an extremely loud noise (kind of like a BOINK) when it is turned on. Is this normal or is there a fix for this. If anyone has had this problem, I would appreciate an e-mail to let me know how or if you got it fixed. Thanks

Strength:

Realism. I feel like I am in the movie. True colors, real flesh tones.

Weakness:

a little too crisp with text.

The JVC I'art is a great TV, however the Wega is indeed better in my opinion. Although the colors in the JVC seemed out of this world vivid, the realistic approach from the Wega is preferred to me; being a human. I compared the two in detail. While watching a news cast the head of the newperson looked like a basketball; completely unreal skin tone orange with a glow coming his body. The Wega skin tone looked like the real thing and there was no glowing or blur effect, just crisp detail of the suit and sillouette of the body. I must say that if you only watch cartoons, the JVC is the way to go to really feel cartoonie, but if you like to watch movies with people in them and you want to feel like you are actually part of the cast, go Wega. That is the pure truth of it all. =)

Strength:

Once you play a DVD on this set, you'll be whipped in no time.

Weakness:

Speakers, but if you got your own set who cares..., remote is ok, regular tv signal isn't anything special.

Well, I finally did it. I've been contemplating buying a new TV for the past 6 months and I want to thank all of you who have posted reviews at this website. I ended up buying this WEGA KV27FS12 and I have not regretted my decsion.

There are a lot of reviews that refer to a geometry problem but I have not seen any in my set. What I have seen is an incredible picture when I play DVDs using the component video feature of the set. I swear I have to get about 2 feet away from the screen before I start seeing any lines or pixels. Don't be fooled by what you see in the showroom. The signal they are feeding these sets is crap and that's why you don't see much of a difference from the other tvs. Regular cable tv viewing isn't anything special but it is decent.

Did I mention the picture quality when viewing DVDs? I promise you, you will not be disappointed. Those other reviews referring to using the component video features are right. Don't buy some other tv to save $100-$200 because you'll already be missing out on some hot technology these sets offer. I am still discovering the features and quality and I just can't be any happier.

I waited for the thanksgiving sale-a-thon to get it. I ended up paying $500 for the tv (tax included) plus an additional $60 for a 3 year warranty. I got it at Sears because they actually matched the lowest internet price I could find. Goodguys and Circuit City and Best Buy would not. Sears isn't known for being an audio/video specialist but they just gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.
