Strength:

Quality of the signal on progressive DVD is absolutly awesome. Sat TV is not far behind. A great buy at a competitive price. Why buy anything other than a Sony for TVs?

Weakness:

My TV was missing the remote when purchased. Best Buy provided me with a Sony programmable remote that works fine.

An outstanding TV when hooked to Direct TV and using a progressive DVD with component inputs.

Great Picture on DVD, DSS, Playstation or a strong cable signal. On antenna or a bad cable signal images looked pixelized. When I have A good signal the picture is unbelievable. Great remote control. Lots of inputs. Doesn''''t matter too much because i use my a/v receiver to run my video source.

Strength:

Looks Great! Lots of gadgets, more than I know what to do with! Great Picture and Sound. Sony makes great products.

Weakness:

Too Heavy! Made in Mexico! Reliability? Had a questionable flaw in the lower left hand corner. Turned the tv off and it was fine after we turned it back on.

My wife and I wanted a new TV for Christmas, so we went to Sears and basically got the best one that would still fit in our living room. We bought the 32" KV-32HS20. A 32" was plenty big for us. We hooked it up and it looked and sounded great! We watched it late into the night. We woke up the next morning and watched some tv, still looked great. We then did some chores and went to watch it again and there was not a picture. The tv would stay on for about 10 seconds then would turn itself off. Could hear the channels, but could not see anything but a ghost image of whatever was on the program. This is less than 24 hours after we first turned it on. We are taking it back to Sears today and will try our luck with another of the same model.

Strength:

2 Components inputs. Nice case design. Nice remote and functionality. Progressive scan and hi-def capabilities.

Weakness:

Picture quality with a crappy cable signal... (which isn't really a low since you should be buying a HDTV Satellite receiver for this TV anyway.)

I've been looking to buy my own television for the past six months, as the last Sony Wega I used was my old roommate's. After seeing one of the HS Wega's on display at Circuit City I was hooked. I've never seen a tube TV, or any TV for that matter, with a picture so crisp and clear. HDTV ready with 2 component inputs for either a progressive scan DVD player or X-Box or GameCube and you're set for some serious mouth-watering entertainment.

I've only had the set for about a week now, but I can guarentee you that I researched this TV throughly and I'm 100% satisifed with my purchase so far. I'm currently using my X-Box as my DVD player and it looks freakin' beautiful. PS2, GameCube, and X-Box games are simply breathtaking on this thing and it's only gonna get better with XB and GC supporting HD modes.

The only real downfall to this TV set is the image quality when you have a crappy cable signal. Things become a little pixelated and can look a tad bit worse than a lower resolution TV would. This is due to the TV up-converting every input to 960i. And while this up-converting works wonders for games it can make a crappy cable signal look like garbage. This is kinda a moot point for me since most of my use for this TV is gonna be with DVDs and console gaming.

Now all I need is a nice receiver that can up-convert all connections to component and I'll be set. Anybody got a $1000 I can borrow for a Kenwood 5090?

P.S.: I bought the 32" since the 36" was too big for my room and was around $500 more expensive. I didn't go with the XBR version since the only worthy difference between the HS model was the CineMotion 3:2 pulldown thingy, which just does your progressive scanning for you. Another moot point since I'll either buy a progressive scan player or they'll make a firmware upgrade to the X-Box to give it the capabilities of progressive scan.

Strength:

Number of Inputs, ability to turn off unused inputs, Picture quality

Weakness:

Showes flaws of analog over the air broadcasts, I have noticed some "blocking" on some channels

I went to Sears to look at the Samsung 32" TV. My wife went with me and she took one look at the TV and told me it was ugly. So we ended up deciding to get the Panasonic 32HX20. I got Sears to price match Circuit City at $1499.00. I went back a week later to pick it up and the store had ordered the wrong TV. The store manager was very apologetic and offered to let me take the Sony at the same price if I wanted it. The only reason we had not bought the Sony in the first place was because of the price. So I took her up on the offer. I have not been sorry. The picture is great. The only sources I have are DVD's and cable TV (non-digital). The stronger channels on my cable look great!! The weaker signals tend to show blocks on moving pictures. By that I mean you can seen obvious signs that the picure is made up of small squares. On DVD's the picure is excellent. I currently do not have a progressive Scan DVD player. I have experimented with one on this set and have noticed a couple of things.

1. The automatic 16:9 enhanced feature does not work with a 480p signal. You have to manually change it.

2. The automatic 16:9 enhanced feature does not work with a Samsung DVD player.

3. The automatic 16:9 enhanced feature does work with Sony Brand DVD players.

On this set I could see a small difference between a progressive scan image and a non-progressive scan image but it was not a "knock you socks off" difference. The best example I saw was on "The Phantom Menace" DVD. In the scene where the drone ships are moving toward Gungans you can see the ventilator slots on the drone ships, on the progressive scan player they are perfectly smooth, on the non-progressive player they breakup.

One other note is this TV makes a loud noise when you turn it on. I have noticed this on several other models I have tried in the store. It doesn't do it all of the time and I have not figured out why it does it sometimes and not others. But when everyone hears it they thing something is "frying" inside the TV
