8 years of Great TV sad to see it go!!!!

About 20 minutes after a severe thunderstorm it went......BANG!!!...... and now it just squeals. It was on a surge protector that still seems ok so it might have had nothing to do with the storm.

It had survived 2 moving trucks and had never been cleaned as far as the inside of the TV. Good enough picture and it looked good right until it died. As far as duty cycle it was on probably 8hrs a day just about every day.

Sound was great although for my next TV I want Smart Sound or whatever they call it so that the commercials aren't so loud. Although we have less commercials to watch thanks to a Tivo!

This was a great television while it lasted. The picture was great. Although, I had a hard time trying to understand how the pip worked. There was not enought support from the website. This television lasted for about two years from the date of purchase, which is not a long time. My children were watching it one day. I turned it off to force my children to do their chores. When they were done and I went to turn it back on, it turned on for a split second and then went back off. It has not worked since then. This is not a very reliable set. I have had televisions for more than ten years. I paid too much money for such a short use.

This TV is a piece of crap!!! I bought it new almost 4 years ago. I began to have problems with sound 1 week after manafacturers warranty expired. I had a work around which was to utilize my surround sound. Then the PIP function started to act up. Within the last 6 months the tube started showing signs of going by distorting the edges and now it finally just died and makes a high pitch whining. Part of the problem is the internal parts are not really shielded and cleaning is to complicated. This is the 2nd RCA TV I have had problems with. I don't like spending good money only to trash within 2-4 years. I would recommend people do more research on the product to include product history/repairs and get a good TV backed by a good warranty.
