Strength:

Excellent picture and sound. Guide Plus is pretty cool. S video rocks.

Weakness:

No video input selection button on front tv control panel.

Bought this tv after old RCA finally bit the dust. I couldn't be happier with it so far. The color is incredible. Sound is good for a tv this size and price. I looked at this and the Panasonic 32 inch and the RCA won hands down, plus it was $30 cheaper. The only non HD tv with a nicer picture was the Sony, but I didn't want to spend quite that much money. All in all it was an excellent choice. Saw a Phillips Managavox 32 inch at Wal-Mart for $550.99. Then read the reviews for it here and deceided against it. Who would but a TV at Wal-Mart any way?

Strength:

Guide Plus system, unmatched picture quality, remote

Weakness:

none

This is an amazing TV and the picture quality compares favorably to my large Sony and Panasonic TVs. The Guide Plus system is excellent if you don't have a satellite system. This unit can be the heart of a very respectible low-buck home theater system. The remote is easy to use too. I picked this up at Best Buy for only $449 but I was willing to spend much more- just couldn't find anything with a better combination of picture and features.

Strength:

Large, bright, color saturated picture. Decent remote

Weakness:

Tough to figure out how to enable S-Video

This TV replaced my 10 year old RCA 19" and of course
it's a phenomenal improvement. I picked it out of the
usual "lineup" at Best Buy because I tend to like the
way RCA TVs look. It's partly the high saturation. I
would have preferred a flat screen, but none of the
flatscreens (especially the Sony Wega's) looked as good
to my eye. It's a heavy monster, and luckily the
delivery men helped me put it on the stand. Setup was
easy except for the digital S-Video connector which
took me an hour to figure out how to enable. The manual
was quite negligent on that point. So far, it's turning
out superb images from my DVD. I'm using my stereo
for sound mostly, but the built-in sound is surprisingly
good, especially for stereo broadcasts.

Terrible Long Term Durability. Tuner went out at 1 year 8 months rendering the produce unuseable. Out of Warranty, parts 90 Days, Tube 2 years. Estimated Cost to repair: $125.00 to $175.00!!! Contacted Thomson Electronics representing RCA, via e-mail, no response to request request to make right. Would not recommend this product at all based on my experience with it.

Strength:

good picture, easy to use remote, sound is OK, PIP is easy to use

Weakness:

reliability

I'm not sure if my PIP Home theatre is this model, and it is in the shop so I can't get the model # now. Got this Home Theatre (Home Horror Theatre) set and Rex threw in a Daewoo 12" portable (which has NEVER broke). The RCA broke the first day so REX swapped it out, and the second one then broke almost precisely the day the warranty ran out. The picture fuzzed out and returned temporarily when you tapped it lightly (or heavily depending on how mad you were). I took it in to a local service rep and they said it was a common flaw on these sets to require many solder joints to be retouched, and they even had a fixed job for it because it was so common to do. That repair lasted about 1.5 years. Last week it wouldn't come on at all and he told me that RCA is backordered for 2000 (yes two thousand !) of the replacement flyback transformers. The only good thing about this design from a repair standpoint is that there is one main board in it making repair relatively easy and cheap. About $250 gets you everything but the tube. I didn't get a lemon, because based on what I've learned they are inherently unreliable so if you have one that hasn't broke you got the exception !

When the set works the picture is great, and it is very easy to use. The PIP is handy since we're still on analog cable, but it will be useless once we go digital (I think). I wouldn't buy another one since there are comparably priced Toshibas and Hitachis out there which couldn't possibly be less reliable.

Sound problems

Well, about a month ago I bought this TV. It worked great for about a week and a half until the sound started cutting off and on with no warning. It continually did this so we took it back to Best Buy. While waiting in line to return it, we realized the person in front of us was returning the same model TV because the picture blew out. We did a direct exchange for the same model TV. This was about 3 weeks ago. Now today, the sound cut off again. The sound goes fuzzy for a while, then there is no sound at all. So I get to try to take this one back tonight. This time, I will not accept another F32645. My advice... don't buy this TV!
