I have owned this product for 10 years since new. No problems; works great with my RCA Home Theatre audio system using the component video connections.. Picture quality is very good (for NTSC). Guide Plus is extra special value. Only issue has been in the last 6 months the remote will not scan channels (ie. you must dial each channel, otherwise it just defaults to channel 03). Could be the tuner going bad.

Not a bad buy for $C 650. Now shopping around for my next unit, HD flat panel LCD/Plasma something for the new millennium.

Strength:

Outstanding picture quality with digital signals. Good looking too!

Weakness:

Too heavy!!

I am completly satisfied with this Television considering it isn't a high end tv, it has the quakifications of one though. It produces excellent picture quality. I would buy RCA again because of the good luck I've had with this one. the only peoblem I ever had was that I lost the sound twice and that was caused by the Guide Gold, and all i had to do was unplug the tv and plug it back in. Otherwise, no problems at all!

Weakness:

life of TV

We began having problems the first year. We would loose the volume and have to unplug the set and replug in order to get the volume back. Just before having the set for 4 years we lost the picture. It was in the repair shop for about 1-1/2 months and we have been told that it looks like it cannot be repaired. It is a very expensive set to only have 4 years. I'm completely dissatisfied and would not purchase another RCA

Strength:

Great image quality, almost as good as HD. Great sound with bass and treble adjustments.

Weakness:

Very heavy and sometimes hard to position for maximum viewing, Could use an anti-reflective screen. Draws light like flies on....

I was a little skeptical about purchasing another RCA televsion after I had a bad, bad experience with a smaller screen, mass-produced (for K-Mart) RCA a few yers ago. The salesman at Rex informed me that RCA has gone above and beyond to resolve some of these issues and even re-located there maufacturing base to North America. The decision to purchase was made easy once I had an oppurtunity to view this RCA alongside comparable JVC, Magnavox and Zenith models. It wasn't as nice as the Sony models but it also lacked their price tag. I have used this set for about 9 months and have never had any problems. It has served nicely for television and home theater viewing. This monitor does an excellent job of displaying images from my DSS and DVD player. The picture quality is ALMOST as good as that of my best friend's High Definition monitor. (Let's just say that the difference doesn't justify the $1,500 difference in price.) This is, of course, when the components are connected through the S-Video or Component jacks. All and all, I have been thoroughly satisfied with this television and would recommend it to anyone who wants a performance tv, without having the $2,000 to spend on an HDTV monitor.
