Strength:

I have no complaints concerning this brand and model of television!! Every control on this set was easy to use

Weakness:

I have no weaknesses!!

I bought this 31 inch. Proscan television in 1994. The picture was sharp and clear. Color brillant and sound great! The tuner was replaced in early ... under warranty in 1996. I have played this set everyday since I purchased it and it has been faithful to me for over ten years. I wished I could afford another one!

Strength:

Features, technology are/were way ahead of the competition. Easy to operate the multitude of features. Very attractive and sturdy

Weakness:

Picture quality lower than expectations. Tuner problems. Repair parts costing is outrageous

My Proscan 52" was touted as an extremely high quality product when I purshased it n Dec 95.The Tuner has had intermittent problems since the extended warranty expired. At the moment, nothing is working and I am looking at a $2000.00 repair bill.Itis going into the garbage. Can you believe it? This was the least used TV in our home

Strength:

It worked great while under warrranty.

Weakness:

Television broke shortly after warranty ended. Very dissapointed with life span of Pro-Scan.

I purchased my Pro-Scan Model PS35123 in 1996. At the time of purchase, I also bought an "extended warranty" contract issued by General Electric. The service contract that I purchased expired on 9-22-01. A few months later the TV just shut itself off one day. At first I thought the power in the house had gone off. But, this was not the case. I was not able to find a repairman willing to work on the ProScan in my home. Therefore, I had to get assistance in moving my 36" TV to a repair center. I was without a TV for over a month because the repair man was having a difficult time diagnosing the problem. He concluded that it was probably a faulty outlet or defective surge protector. It was finally repaired at a cost of $250.00. Approximately 6 months later...the same thing happened! I was upset to say the least. I brought it back to the repair shop and to a bewildered repairman. That was about 3 weeks ago. I am still without my TV. I have learned an expensive lesson. Never purchase anything costly without doing some product research. At this point I have given up on the ProScan and will not throw away anymore of my money on repairs. It's time to cut my losses and do some consumer research for my next purchase of a TV. One thing I know for certain, it won't be a Pro-Scan or RCA product! I hope my review proves helpful to some other unsuspecting consumer.

Strength:

Good picture until it croaked.

Weakness:

The TV died just out of warranty.

What a nightmare! I bought this Proscan TV partly out of loyalty to RCA. I used to work at RCA Video and I have a 15 year old 27 inch RCA stereo monitor that has served me very well. After the Proscan disaster, I will never buy another Proscan product. The Proscan died after 18 months of use. I brought it in to be repaired, and after weeks of frustrating delays by an incompetent service center, we were told that the unit would cost something like $400.00 to repair. A second service center confirmed that the main circuit board was cracked, and beyond repair. How I wish that I had read Consumer Reports before I bought the Proscan. Forget that I worked for RAC at one time; we gave up and bought a Sony, which has been great.

Strength:

Great features and picture

Weakness:

Reliability-Major and repeated failures

When purchased new it had an intermittant turn off and restart(maybe once a day-really hard to debug). After 2 1/2 years the tuners began to intermittantly lose lock-that was repaired, but took 6 weeks because of the intermittant character.
After three years it totally quit(turn-on self terminates). Compared to Panasonic and Sony products, this TV is the worst I have ever had for reliability and I would never buy another Proscan product. Wish I had read CU first!

Strength:

Very clear video picture. Dual tuner PIP. S-video hookup. Easy remote.

Weakness:

Should have a second s-video. The next model has (two). No front panel inputs.

This television has the best picture in it's class. For the money it couldn't be beat. You have full control and range over the color, video and sound through the menu function. The PIP is first rate with dual tuners. The on board speaker system and amp. is pretty good but not great. I have it set-up with a Toshiba 3109 DVD and connected via a monster 1000sv cable. It deliver's very clear video and warm natural colors and tint. If I had a bigger cabinet I would have gone with the 32". I had a small problem with the cable f-pin in. The connection to the tuner started to fail. But under warranty C. City came out and fixed the problem and it works perfectly.
