Strength:

36" tv while it lasted, which wasn't long.

Weakness:

Very short life; it's junk.

We paid approx. 900 dollars for our 36" at Rex. Two months out of warranty, it went black. We sank almost $300 into repair. Six months later, another $109 for a solder. Now it has gone up a third time -- It's garbage. We'll never buy another Philips product -- And we'll be sure our friends and family don't either.

The old Zenith in the bedroom has been working for 20+ years.

Strength:

Nice picture before 17 months

Weakness:

Does not last long.

This TV is a junk. I used the TV for 17 months and then heard this buzz sound and then the tv shut down and wouldn't function at all. I know I will have to just trash the thing, because of course the warranty is only good for 1 year, and even with an extended warranty, the electrical components are not covered. I will never buy another TV made from Phillips.

Strength:

nice remote

Weakness:

life expectancy

Basically, this tv should be considered "disposable." After normal use for 18 months (ie. no video games, home theater system, etc) the tv shut down and wouldn't function at all. Turns out it needs nearly $400 in repairs, and of course was no longer under warranty. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that if you spend over $500 for a piece of electronics equipment it should last longer than 18 months. With crap like this tv, you should just plan on buying a new tv every other year and throw away your old tv. What a ripoff! I have a JVC tv that I have hauled around for the past 12 years that still works perfectly, never had a single problem.

Needless to say, I will avoid all Philips-Magnavox products in the future.
