Strength:

Digital Natural Motion, Real Flat, sound.
Audio-out, 3 scarts + Front(not visible)

Weakness:

Hard to shuffle your presets around (after a automatic install).
Remote isn't programmable/learning.

I had been looking for a widescreen tv for over a year and a half and allmost bought the Loewe Planus 32". Then decided to try the Philips 32PW9616 because of Digital Natural Motion and Dolby Digital decoding on board (using wireless FM-speakers). But it still has a rounded tube and the design isn't that great. And I didn't really needed DD on my TV cause I'd rather buy a receiver. So I kept reading testmagazines like Video (german) and one fine month (april 2000) they tested the 36PW9525 and made it their reference tv for all other widescreen televisions. I have the 32" version but beside that it's technically the same.
They have no doubts: this tv has the brightes colours, the deepest black and a very steady image(no flickering). Watching end-credits is a good test: this TV doesn't make the white letters have edges like a saw has. Resampling the image is very fast (Falcon-chipset) and leaves a clear picture.
When you're watching socker on an older widescreen tv the grass seems to be moving all the time. This is because these tv's aren't capable of recreating the right image quick enough. If you want to know more about this read into Digital Natural Motion.
Add the great sound from 5 speakers and 1 big subwoofer, hook up two surround speakers and you're in for a treat. Besides all that it also looks great. So I bought it the same month.
Although it is a huge(100x60 cm) thing to have in your living room, the light colour makes it 'disappear'. And you don't have to worry about someone stealing it because there is no way the will easily move its 60kg!

When you're watching a movie on dvd it's like you're able to touch the images, it is so unbelievable sharp!!
Using superzoom-mode keeps the movie in the format it should be. Using automatic-mode will fill the entire screen but you don't need that because the picture you see is big enough even with black stripes above and under.

When you're looking for the best TV around, this is it.
The keyword is: Digital Natural Motion. Experience it ones and you never look your at own tv again like you did before.
Don't say you weren't warned...

Other elements in my setup:
Onkyo TX-DS575X receiver
JVC XV-515 dvd-player
B&W 580 front speakers
Infinity I surround speakers
Infinity Video 1 centerspeaker.

Strength:

Digital Natural motion. What else can I say???

Weakness:

You *have* to be kidding???

This review is for the 36 inch version of the Philips set.

It's pretty hard to actually think where to start on this TV with regards to praising its features.
Firstly, as a TV it has the largest, flattest picture I have seen so far in Oz. As Australia is just about to take the step towards digital TV, I thought it was about time that I upgraded to a 16/9 set and to be honest the competition was nothing short of woeful.
100hz and digital TVs have been notorious for their artefact problems compared to normal 68cm TVs. I have a Sony PVM2950 professional monitor, and even though it has a sharper image than the Philips, the 100hz feature, combined with digital motion, leave the Sony set for dead. Even though it boasts a 36 inch tube, artefacts are kept to a totally acceptable level and the clarity of the images even from standard analogue Tv are amazing. Plug in a DVD and you'll be astounded. I'm now just hanging for a set top digital TV converter so I can hook this fellow up through RGB.
Now, the most outstanding feature of this unit has to be its Digital Natural Motion. Having to constantly use PC's with high end video cards etc, it pains me to go back to the sluggish 25 frames per second that PAL TV offers in Australia (and 30 frames NTSC is by no means any better). Natural Motion, through a most amazing method, blends frames 1 and 2 of your 25 frame signal together to form frame 1.5, which is then inserted into normal playback. The end result (for PAL anyhow) is that the image is now updated at 50 frames (60 in NTSC. The effect is utterly amazing and once experienced will leave you with a total disgust for standard TV.
As the standards for Frames per second are not due to change with the introduction of digital TV, I thoroughly believe that Digital Natural Motion will be the standard for TV's in the future, as it is simply that good.
Adding to the package is great sound, Dolby support and SCART sockets for RGB inputs from your favourite devices ( I don't know why many manufactures have bothered with component video as it's clearly an inferior signal to RGB).

Anyway, this TV is currently the worlds best. Hats off to Philips.

I thought for a long time but there are no weakness

I could bore you with some text from the manual but I don't think you want that. If your friends have one of the above tv:s and you want to make them just go PPPHHHHUUUUUU.....when they se the picture. GET THIS ONE.

You get MUCH better pic and all the futures they offer and much more.(not that the others are bad but they seem old)
