Strength:

While it worked picture and sound were great.

Weakness:

The worst customer service (they ignore you) ever.... I don't care if it was the best and least expensive TV made, I'll never buy another Phillips/Magnavox product

Purchased the 27PS55 in November 2002, began having intermitent audio problems in December, audio completely stopped in January. Contacted Phillips for Warranty service they were helpful directed me to nearest repair facility (Lake Electronics in Albany, NY) 40 minutes away, they came on 2/3/03 to pickup the TV to bring it back to the shop. It is now April 12, 2003 and I am no closer to to having a working TV then I was in February. I understand that with electronics often times something goes wrong. BUT... the service I am receiving from the authorized service center is terrible and the support I've received from numerous calls to Phillips is even worse ( 2 calls I made were apparently never logged into the system).

Strength:

Picture quality, sound quality, ease of use, looks, setup, and just about everything else.

Weakness:

None.

This is an excellent television. It is affordable, and has a load of great bells and whistles. Although it doesn''t have PIP(Picture in Picture), the AutoSound, AutoPicture, and AutoMute features are excellent, and very, very, very useful. The model is not flat, but if you are looking for a regular color tv, this is the kind to buy. The picture is excellent, and the sound is simply amazing. The built in surround sound sounds fantastic, and adds a stunning touch to your DBS receiver if you have one. The remote is great and it is universal, so you can operate lots of things with it. It even looks kewl. If you are looking for a good, no excellent tv at a fantastic price, get this one. You won''t regret it.

Weakness:

I spent months researching tv''s that I could get for a decent price and still have plenty of performance. My 19" wasn''t cutting it with my brand new dvd player (pioneer 341 - excellent player by the way) since my 19" didn''t have the connections I needed I had to route it through my old vcr. I was looking at all the 27 inches and narrowed the search down to one major thing. Must have either s-video, component video, or both. After a few months of research my search narrowed even further into two choices. The toshiba 27A41 and this Philips. As you can see I choose the philips and couldn''t be happier. The picture quality using component video cables (Acoustic research) is amazing. Movies such as Aliens display the sheer beauty of dvd''s running off a component signal. The picture is chrisp, clean without any hint of noise or other forms of visual artifacts that can crop up with a composite signal. The sound on this set is amazing. I bought this tv for my room and it''s quite a confined space. The simulated surround sound works great in this type of atmosphere. I can''t say enough good things about this set it was definetaly worth the money I spent on it.

Component video inputs S-Video inputs Audio outputs 800 lines of resolution Very sharp picture quality Great sound

Weakness:

none i notice

This Tv has a great picture with 800 lines of resolution. Better picture quality than the Panasonic and Jvc TV in the same price range, equal to the Toshiba. Component video for DVD''s is great for quality. s-video inputs provide great picture quality for my xbox, and the composite video inputs on the back as well as the side are very useful too. Sound on this unit is fantasic, i was shocked. It has a simuated surround mode aswell, as the standard stereo and mono. audio outputs was a must for me as i run my tv through my HT. all in all for this price you are getting a bargin.. highly recommended

Strength:

DVD SOUND GREAT FROM THE SPEAKERS

Weakness:

NONE

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE OVER ALL QUALITY OF IT. THE SOUND FROM THE ONBOARD SPEAKERS SOUNDS GREAT. IN THE RIGHT ROOM YOU CAN EVEN HEAR THE SURROUND SOUNDS COMING FROM AROUND YOU. I BOUGHT THIS TV TO REPLACE A OLD 19' RCA I HAD IN THE BEDROOM AND WASN'T EXPECTING THIS GOOD OF A PERFORMANCE. THE PICTURE IS CLEAR. I WASN'T FOND OF THE REMOTE, BUT I USE A UNIVERSAL ANYWAY. FOR UNDER $300 YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.

Strength:

Great picture quality and sound.
Loads of A/V outlets. S-video included

Weakness:

None that I know of.

Bought this TV after I purchased a DVD player and finding out that the old tv didn't have the connections needed!
Easy to set up, with the addition of extra A/V outlets on the side of the tv. Excellent for plugging in the video camera or playstation 2.
The tv has numerous sound formats. The theater works well with surround speakers.
I'm extremely happy with this tv and I feel that I won't need to upgrade for many years to come.
