Strength:

Big flatter screen. Excellent picture when viewing DVD

Weakness:

Terrible sound. Too much echo. No component input.

Just got this set from Good guys a week ago for $1599.99.
I had high hope on it because I owned a 27 inch superflat
TV since 94 and never had problem.

The picture quality is excellent when viewing DVD.
But the sound quality is terrible. No adjustment
can make it right. Just too much echo even without
surround sound turned on. I can bearly hear the
newscaster reading news. Maybe the problem is just
with the set I got. I am not a audio fans but this
sound quality is just wrong.

I will return this set and get a sony wega.

Strength:

Price, picture quality when viewing dvd's

Weakness:

Brightness coming from the top and bottom of the screen, poor sound

We purchased this set for our children to use in the basement. The set was purchased from P.C. Richard in NJ at 37% off the MSRP.

The quality of the picture is not very good when watching any images that contain a lot of black. The brightness from the top and bottom of the screen is very distracting and annoying. Also, the sound reproduced by the set's speakers is not good.

We weren't expecting the same picture as our Proton or Sony XBR250, but the problems we've experienced are inexcusable in a set listing for almost $1,800. If you must have a 36" set save a few more dollars and purchase the Sony XBR. P.C. Richard is now selling them for $1,700 with a little haggling.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Strength:

Big, black, flat screen

Weakness:

No component video in.

Was going to get the 32", but couldn't pass it up at $1199. IMO, better picture quality than the Toshibas. I liked the Sony WEGA's too, but couldn't stomach the price. Nice, black blacks. The picture is slightly lighter in the corners as mentioned by others, but my Tosh 2109 DVD has an enhanced black setting which eliminates it. Remote is good too. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.

Strength:

Big sharp picture, colors and blacks look good except in corners. Pretty flat screen for a 36". Picture seems sharper than Sony XBR thanks to scan line doubler or whatever it's called.

Weakness:

Corners are slightly brighter than edges and middle for some reason.. even after much time playing with adjustments.

My only argument with this TV is that the corners seem to be slightly brighter than middle and edges during black transitions or when switching inputs. Maybe this is due to screen not being totally flat like Sony XBR. All-in-all, I'm happy with price/performance of this TV. I'm still glad I got this rather than XBR.

Strength:

You'll need it to move this sucker.

Weakness:

bad deal all around priced too high

Not reccomended.I have all the typical gripes about this set:
1. Lousy sound
2. Brightness of the edges
3. Plus another and the worst ... avery annoying appearence of fanlike lines that spray out from the sides most noticable when there are changes of scenes in the program I'm watching.I have had two service calls and nothing can be done to fix this. I'm stuck now because i bought from a mail order and don't want to ship this monster back.

Strength:

Big picture,vivid colors,clear

Weakness:

Blacks appear lighter in the corners, annoying when watching letterbox movies.Sound is less clear than my 6year old 31 inch gaoo with superdome sound. No component input for my DVD.

Had an 31 inch gaoo for 6 years and didn't have have the problem with the corners, but the set occasionally had a loud hum when watching it.They have really cut cost by reducing features like audio swap when watching pip ,pip search, sound equalizer ,favorite picture settings. But the price is the same as the 31 inch I brought 6 years ago.I paid $1899.cdn for the set plus $199.cdn for the stand.I would look at the Toshiba FST Perfect screen or Sony Wega as a better choice ,it dosn't have the problems with the corners but are slightly more expensive.
