    Strength:

Whites burn whiter, edges remain sharper, brighter in general.

    Weakness:

    Skin tone configuration.

The 32" Tau is the best in its class. It has the richest, most vibrant colors available. The whites burn incredibly white, blacks are rich and dark, and it upholds to the industry standards in configuration parameters. Getting skin tones to look perfect takes a little adjustment where the Wega has it done right from the get-go. However, the Tau's picture simply outpreforms in vibrance and sharpness.

    Strength:

Great picture. Cabinet smaller than Sony.

    Weakness:

    none

I took a long time in deciding between the Panasonic and Sony XBR. When you see the two sets side by each there is no comparison – Panasonic hands down. I am a huge Sony fan but not this time. Yes, I do have a very very slight geometry problem. I would never have noticed it, if were not for all the comments on the HX40 – I had to really look for it.

The picture quality is unbelievable. It seems all HDTV sets have a problem with regular cable but I installed a $20 booster and now the images are extremely sharp.

I use the set mainly with a digital cable box and the digital channels are sharp as DVD. Very pleased with the set and would highly recommend it.

    Price was $2400Canadian+Tax

    Strength:

Color, weigth (70lbs less than 32 inch Wega), Size (smaller than Wega)

    Weakness:

    GEOMETRY, WHITE BLOOMING,

I waited several months for the hx41 becuase it was supposed to have fixed all the problems from last years model. Imagine my disappointment when I turned it on and there was still the same horrible geometry found in last year's model. To make things worse, whites are way too bright. Scenes with bright whites can make the image unbearable. Even turning down the brightness doesn't help, it just darkens the rest of the image. Also during really dark scenes, there is almost a flicker to the screen. The image also looks somewhat pixelated when compared to the Sony Wega. I contacted Panasonic and they acted like they had never heard of the problem with last year's sets let alone this year's. Luckily the folks at Myer-Emco have promised to help me out.A serviceman is supposed to come out next week, but I don't see myself keeping this set.
