Please check out the Panasonic web page. The new CT-32HX41 and CT-36HX41 are now listed. The HX41 is going to fix the red problem with the HX40, and also allows you to save color settings for EACH input. The remote is also much better.

Strength:

Great features/performance @ this price point for NSTC, HDTV and DVDs

Weakness:

Heavy, but no more than others

Just had this for a week, but after picture settings were re-adjusted I am actually blown away at just how good the picture is. I have been a Sony XBR fanatic for years, but this Panasonic is great. NSTC, DVDs and HDTV (not much yet) picture quality is far better than I expected. A very nice touch is the quality of each mode is top notch and conistent. Picture noise seems to be less than my Sony. The Panasonic picture appearence is different than the Sony's. More photo like than softer art film theater experience that a Sony might presents. Now that I see the comparison at home I prefer the Panasonic right now. Give me six months and we'll see if I still think that way. Bottom line, this set is a real practical winner on all accounts. Pun intended.

Strength:

Picture,color and overall brightness

Weakness:

Heavy,memory issue between source settings

First of all,I am very pleased with this set. Mine, after getting it home, had a couple of chips on the front of the caseing...but after putting it in the entertainment center their not noticable(the TV is so heavy that returning it would of been a real hassel). After plugging it in,WOW ,great picture! I was looking at the sonyxbr400,but felt that this set had a better picture and was less money.ALSO.the picture was perfect out of the box.The only thing i did is turned the contrast down abit. Dvd looks awsome.I can not wait to get a progressive scan dvd player! If anything,it will take some time getting used to the flat screen, and the concave illusion that all flats have, sony, samsung ect.

Strength:

Great Picture.

Weakness:

Geometry Problems.

I've had this set for about 10 months now and am extremely happy with it except the geometry problem. I have a curvature on the lower left hand and any horizontal objects would appear curved downwards. I've contacted Panasonic and they gave me no response or told me to have someone look at it but I'm not sure if this can be fixed.

The picture is great. I have digital cable and the pics on the movies from premium channels are just awesome. Same goes for the DVD source.

The geometry problem is not something I cannot live with but it is certainly noticeable.

Strength:

Great picture. Price.

Weakness:

Geometry problems, remote.

This is a second follow up to my review.

I have long been in contact with Panasonic with regards to the geometry problem that several people including myself describe where the picture tilts upwards from the left then straightens out to the right.

I had the technician come over 3 times already and it looks like there will be a 4th. The sad thing is that all this time the picture looks the same. No difference whatsoever.

Pansonic continues to be reluctant about admitting to the problem and still insists that the problem can be solved, which I find hard to believe at this time. Their opinion is that all Digital TV's have problems like these. Well, this sounds like an excuse to me.

I really want to like this TV, but the more and more I use my XBR450, the more and more I hate the Panasonic. It is a shame because aside from the remote (which completely stinks by the way) and the geometry problem, it's a great set, especially if you can get if for like $1300.

I still like this TV, and I always thought that Panasonic as a company was just as reputable as Sony.

I am still hopeful that the people I spoke to in Panasonic, who sound like they genuinely want to helpme, comes through.

But even if they do, I'm not sure anyone would want to go through what I am going through right now to get a satisfactory TV...

More to come later.

Strength:

Picture quality.

Weakness:

Geometry problem. Bad Remote. Bad Technical Support.

This is another follow up. Panasonic came again to make adjustments. I kept on insisting that the problem cannot be solved, but apparently these guys had negative IQ's.

So whatever they did made things worse. Now I have a yellow hue on both of the top corners. Since they installed that wire around the tybe for the tilting control, I can't use the geo-magnetic correction since it now tilts the picture too much. Of course these people were too stupid to realize that.

AS soon as Panasonic found out that the problem wouldn't go away, they stopped contacting me and me calls remain unretuerned. Totally unbelievable.

I would never buy this TV ever again.

Do yourself a favor and buy a Sony XBR450 series TV. It's fantastic.

Geometry Problems

This is an update of sorts to my earlier post.

I took the time to read through a bunch of posts like this one and I am very discouraged about the whole geometry issue.

I called Panasonic up. They said they would get back to me and see what can be done. What I wanted to know was if Panasonic would confirm this (being that they so quickly released the HX41 series) and if it can be fixed. I've read the nightmare stories in other posts where the TV came back in worse condition than before. I also asked them if it cannot be fixed, what are my options? They also told me they would get back to me.

I still like this TV...I bought the Sony XBR450 36" series the other day and although I didn't fiddle with the settings, out of the box I liked the Panasonic better although the Sony had perfect geometry.

Also the input setting memory is a bit of a drag...but I'm not too obssessed with all that. I think the color is fine...I probably don't know what to look out for anyways!!!

If it didn't have the geometry problem, this TV would be an awesome one, being that it is significantly cheaper than the Sony.

Strength:

Excellent Picture, Sound, and cannot be upgraded (finally)

Weakness:

I did not find any. If all the settings are on mid level then it should not require adjustment

1. It fits on my Wall Unit
2. It has Component Video inputs
3. It displays High Definition Programming in it's original format

Things that make me mad: Time Warner is the only cable service around here that will Have High Definition Programming. AT&T(services us) will in 10 years or more
Time Warner is 1 City AWAY. Instead I get something better HDTV Direct Television (many shows in HDTV) Channel 509 (HBO HDTV) and lots of channels For an extra $10-$20 a month. I already Bought The Hardware because I have to spend my money according to government regulations. (I learned this by traveling overseas and bombarding my account with Thousands of Dollars from a company there). They don't report it. I use NORDOST FLATLINE BLACK KNIGHT CABLES FOR THE BEST SOUND

Strength:

Great picture, sound, and features.

Weakness:

Geometric issues.

I too have the same exact "geometric" problem Nick does. The lower left portion of the picture seems to dip downward. While in letterbox format, I measured the thickness of the upper and lower bars. The upper measured evenly across the screen, while the lower was thicker on the right versus the left (by almost half an inch!). Also, if there's a ticker-type runner, news headlines, sports scores, etc along the lower portion of the picture, it appears to rise slightly upwards from left to right, versus straight across.

A Circuit City repair guy should be here tomorrow to inspect it.
