Strength:

Excellent picture, simple and clever menu, sexy design

Weakness:

Quality - this is the word that discribes this product in the best way. Once you see it you never forget. Superb in everything - from picture to design. There are not so many Loewe owners in Volgograd, I know practically all of them, and all of them really happy to have Xelos.
I compared it with Philips, Sony, JVC and some other "wide-screeners". I could compare "Mercedes" with "Lada" with the same result.
Best choice for those who are ready to pay "an extra dollar" to get the quality they need.
The only problem I have is that "the ring" on remote control that you use to adjust volume and chose channel, is making some funny clicking noises when you press on it.

100hz, digital signal processing. Awesome German quality

The set is a 5381 81cm widescreen

This television is amazing.

I was somewhat concerned about buying a widescreen television because most source material is still 4:3, but this set has enough different picture modes to suit all sorts of ascpect ratios. You can select 16:9, 4:3, Pan which is basically 4:3 with the picture blown up to cover most of the width and the top and bottom of the picture thrown away, cinema, and zoom. There is also some automatic selection of mode, but I havn't quite worked out just when the set does and doesn't automatically select aspect ratio.

I am quite happy to watch 4:3 material in Pan mode, which is fairly similar to 16:9, but you lose the top and bottom of the picture. Widescreen material is just awesome.

Picture quality is great. There are several digital modes designed to compensate for shaky or por signals. Digital Motion Interpolation "fills in the gaps" for fast moving scenes to give a fluid type motion rather than a jerky one.
I have seen reviews for 100Hz sets by other manufacturers (Sxxy) that supposedly have problems handling poor source material. Not with this set.

Menu system is excellent. The manual is built into the set! There's even an index. I you're not sure what a function does press the 'i' button on the remote and a window with a decription of the function pops up.

I cannot comment on audio performance as I use the set purely as a monitor.

Literature I had seen suggested the set was scart only, but there is an S-video , composite and audio line ins on the right hand side of the case. The SCARTs support YUV in which is great for DVD.

A word of warning. The thing is heavy! My entertainment unit had a big bow in the top of it with the tv sitting on it. I had to reinforce it. One doesn't want to be woken up by a falling TV in the middle of the night.

Overall I am very impressed with this set. I love the German Engineering. It even comes with a circuit diagram! How many manufacturers do that.

Strength:

Picture quality, design

Weakness:

not linear horizontal line

I like this TV very much, for the price is the best quality picture I've seen.
I have special price from my TV cable provider, because the signal is very bad. On Sony TV (or Panasonic top VHS VCR) was not acceptable to watch TV, the service guy was very surprised from it and cannot correct this problem.
I was afraid that with new bigger screen would be problem even bigger.
What a surprise for me, the problem disappear!!!! after I install this TV.
Just one notice about this TV, if you have open teletext, you can see that horizontal lines are not exactly direct, in centre of screen is distortion about 2-3mm.
In service they could not repair it - this is a problem of Philips screen, so when you will look for TV, see if has this problem. In some screens can be better.
But this problem, even bigger I saw on many others TVs even more expansive (in fact I until now never see TV without this problem). Of course this you can not recognised when you watch move. It’s why I don't count this as big weakness.

I watch many TVs in shops and presentations from other manufactures. That TVs has many "extras", but at all what is on TV important - the picture, all of them till aprox. 2700$ has worst picture then Loewe Xelos.
