Strength:

Possibly best high difinition picture around. Would rank this product higher had it not been for repain problem.

Weakness:

Repair record.›

The Loewe Aconda 38". It's a beautiful set. Wonderful picture on high difinition broadcasts. Standard broadcast movies can be a little too dark. Remote is easy to use. I have had some problems however. The first set that was delivered to me could not get a picture so was taken back. I have had the replacement for about a month and today I smelled burning. Now I can't get the set to turn on. I am hoping their service policy is good. Will see.v

Strength:

Upconvertison of 480i to 480p. Enhanced picture quality from DVD'S,VHS and some tv programs. True black's, bright whites. Sufficient amount of inputs. Good wide sound. The service staff at loewe was very helpful.

Weakness:

Not a true flat tube [Glare]. Menu screen covers picture when making picture adjustments. Daily timers do not work due to an over sight on software development.

I went from a sony 27" to the loewe 38" Aconda. At first glance I wasn't very impressed with the quality of the picture of course I was viewing local cable which isn't very clear to begin with, and because loewe use's a tinted glass tube the picture was darker than I was use to coming from a sony. Into about the third week, I was tempted to return the set, but one night while viwing a VHS tape some the character's appered to have a 3-D effect after that I was sold, and DVD's WOW! The clarity was incredible. And after I switched to DSS satellite, I was sure I had made the right decision. But after 35 day's just long enough, that I couldn't return it to the store, it started to bleed the color red in dark scenes from all of the inputs. I called the service rep. and over the phone, made some adjustment's which removed the red, but then made my blacks, gray. Two differnt service repair people came to see it but both admitted they didn't know much about the set and that it would take some time to get the service manuals from loewe and more time for parts [mother broad]. So back to loewe, after two months they arranged for a new set. Well, after nine days the new set will not turn on. Currently, I'm now, after a month waiting for the third set to arrive, normally I'd throw in the towel and go back to a sony, But the picture quality is better than what I've seen out there that I'm will to wait it out. I'd also would like to point out that the salesman, [Sei Baishiki] on Steven's Creek Blvd. has gone out of his way to see to it that I'm satisfied completly.

Strength:

Picture quality, build quality, remote, everything is excellent.

Weakness:

None

This is by far, the best direct view TV I''ve ever seen. The internal line doubler on this set is fantastic. If you are in the market for a HDTV direct view set, you can do no better. There are plenty of connections on the back, eventhough there is only one HD input, it shouldn''t matter. The line doubler in the TV is by far better than any progressive DVD player, and the Direct TV box I use has VGA connections. Now if I could only get some HD programming in Memphis besides NBC!

Strength:

Fantastic looks and finish(choice of colours)'' build quality, superb picture quality-the main reasons why you buy a TV in other words!

Weakness:

38" anconda not in UK yet-but will be soon(not true flat screen though),it would have been nice if loewe had put the AVS and audio ports at the side rather than the front as spoils the looks when using these with the front flap down(vitros model has this arrangement but doesn''t look as nice a TV I think)

probably one of the nicest looking 32" 16:9 TVs available on the market,Loewe have stepped smartly outside the mass market of persistent silver finishes to their televisions! It looks as good in a living space when switched off as when it is turned on.Once on the clarity and naturalness of the terrestial channels are fantastic and I live in an area of a suboptimal transmission quality. The quality of the DVD picture is as good as you will ever see,the remote is ergonomically classy and v.userfriendly-if you have loewe DVD and VCR each of these remotes will operate the other two components which is v.handy in a slimline unit rather than in a large bulky universal remote which you have to programme. You pay a premium but nowhere near as expensive as Bang and Olufson TVs which have a much inferior picture quality in my opinion.Break out of the mould, stand thee apart and be separate-buy a loewe!(NB price given in sterling)

Strength:

clean design, great picture

Weakness:

interface options

Picture quality is really sharp. Its nice to be back to a direct view tube. Previously I had the Toshiba 42" 16x9 projection (model escapes me) connected to an DVDO line doubler connected to a Sony 7700 dvd player. Great system, but still nothing touches a direct view tube. Now I have a Sony 9000 ES using the progressive output into a Key Digital component to VGA converter connected to the VGA input on this set. The VGA input is the *only* input this set has that will take a progressive signal and/or HDTV input. I have Time Warner cable here in NYC so if you have digital cable, HDTV is no charge - you only have to get on the wait list for the HDTV converter box (which does 1080i). Too bad there is only 3 HD channels at this point. My only disappointment is with the input options on this TV - having only 1 input for 480p and 1080i means I will have to purchase a switch box (check out Key Digital). But overall I'm very pleased with this purchase.
