Strength:

decent comb filter, component video input for dvd player

Weakness:

color temp not user adjustable, poor geometry.

Well let me start off this review by sayin that i think this is a great tv for the money. I am usin this tv as a centerpeice for a small home theater and I have found this tv to have a very blue picture out of the box . After calibrating this set as best i could using the video essentials dvd, I still found the overall color to be quite blue. So then i called my local imaging science technician to perform a complete video calibration. He managed to get all my grey scale to a linear 6500 dgrees kelvin which is awesome performance for a set in this price range. As far as the color goes this set after isf calibration really shines. I have to add though that if i didnt have it calibrated or i didnt know about the isf that this tv would have been returned in a heartbeat due to the over blue picture. The only other gripe i have with this tv is geometry distotion. When you watch a letterboxed dvd the letterbox lines on the top and bottom of the letterbox are slightly bowed creating a somewhat unusual looking letterbox. This tv dispite its faults is still a better performer than the other junk in its price range by a clearly wide margin. i paid 1099 for this set and then 300 for the calibration and i would put this set up against ANY uncalibrated set in its price range .

Strength:

Great picture and sound, style and look, with plenty of inputs for satalite,DVD,stero.

Weakness:

Have not found one yet

A great value and buy I bought the 36inch D-Series and Iam very happy with it. When you turn it on for the first time you will notice the picture quality right away. the picture is super crisp and the sound is rich and full. With plenty og inputs on the rear like 2 s-video jacks and componet video for your DVD there is more than enough.

Strength:

Picture clarity, simulated surround sound, component video inputs

Weakness:

no "smart sound feature", no front a/v inputs, no DVD control on remote

I purchased the 32 inch version of this model to replace a
9 year-old 27inch Hitachi that died. I did research on the internet as well as a few weeks of shopping around locally before I settled on this model. The Sony WEGA and Panasonic Superflat definitely had the best pictures but they were just too much money. The JVC AV-32D800 was $400 cheaper than the Sony and $150 cheaper than the cheapest Panasonic Superflat I priced. The JVC picture was pretty comparable to the superflat Panasonic and a step above the Proscan, Philips, and cheaper model Sonys and Panasonics that I compared it to. The JVC has 2 s-video inputs and component video input jacks for your DVD player that no other TV in
its price-range had. It also had additional A/V inputs for your VCR and Cable or satellite box,and audio output jacks to connect directly to your stereo receiver. I would like to have had front mounted inputs for my camcorder though. The side mounted speakers put out pretty good audio in the simulated surround sound mode. The default video settings have too much color, especially red, but it is easy to program in your own prefences. Overall, I have been very impressed with the picture this TV produces. It advertises a 2-line digital comb filter (although the Circuit City salesman swears it's a 3-line filter) but I believe it has a clearer, richer, picture than some of the 3-line models I considered (the Philips and Proscan). The remote is easy to use and controls my Hitachi VCR but It would be nice to have controls for a DVD also. I would have also preferred a set with the "smart sound" type feature that automatically turns down the volume when the used car salesmen start screaming during the commercials. For $807 I felt this TV had the best picture, sound and A/V inputs in it's price range.

Strength:

Super pic w/great sound easy to use remote ans menu features

Weakness:

remote should have DVD functions

I didn't get the 36 in,. I got the 32 Dseries 800 model I 'll tell you it's great. The hi resolution 750+ makes movies come alive, the digital ready feature won't make me regret buying this tv in 2 years all kinds of inputs and out puts. Plus I talked the saleperson into letting me have .for half the price cause it was out of the box only $

Strength:

Price/Performance Ratio.

Weakness:

Only 1 rf input limits PiP possibilities. No color temp adjustment. Can't rename inputs.

Best picture I could afford. Nearly as clean as Sony Vega at half the price. Not as cool as my now deceased 31" Mits, but I'm quite happy with it.
