Weakness:

Sound Quality

Overall, this product seems pretty good. I guess I was hoping for more but what the hell...this is my "family" TV. Maybe I got spoiled looking at the WEGA XBR 40" running component video from DVD with a DD 5.1 sound system. But lets do the math: Sony ($4000 bucks) vs JVC ($900 bucks). I'll take the money and the JVC everytime!! For reference to some kind of standard, I have a 61" Toshiba HD rear projector, Toshiba 5109 DVD with Component output and progressive scanning, Marantz SR8000, Monitor Audio 9i mains, MA SW 210 sub, MA 12i center and B&W solid surrounds. I would not consider myself a true "audiophile" but rather an "enthusiast".

Video: I would consider the picture very good when running S video. On the coax feed, the color shift is really bad so try to avoid it. I dont have this TV hooked up to a DVD so all I can comment on is my Digital SAT feed to the S vid input. I'm sure using component input, the picture would be excellent...but dont trust my gut on this... The picture seemed comparable to the Toshiba and Sony. I dont see any convergence problems and the color is very life-like. The resolution is tight enough for comfortable viewing from about 7 feet. Finally, use a few of the bucks you save by not buying an overpriced flatscreen and get decent cables. They do make more of a difference than you would think!!!

Audio: I find the sound a bit "harsh" and "tinny". Of course, when I'm used to my Marantz SR8000 driving my Monitor Audio 9i's, just about any TV speaker would sound like crap. However, compared to my old Sony 27", these do sound a bit weak so I would say they are merely "OK".

Setup: If you have any kind of electronics savvy, this thing is fairly easy to dial in. I would say "very good" in this regard.

Overall: I paid $900 bucks (Canadian). Nuff said!!!

Strength:

Excellent picture quality. Images are very crisp and clear.

Weakness:

None that I have found yet.

After looking a various brands and models I decided to purchase the JVC. The quality of the TV and the price that was listed was what brought me over to purchase this TV. It has excellent picture quality that is almost as good as Wega but not with the expensive price tag. The multiple inputs are great for hooking up DVD players and VCR's, and Cable boxes. This is great TV for person on a buget like I am when it comes to audio video electronics.

Strength:

Great Picture, plenty of A/V inputs + component video input

Weakness:

Speakers vibrate at lower bass sounds

Great value of quality and the price. Compared to other similiar 32" tube TVs, this one is the winner. It has lots of A/V inputs, 2 S-video inputs and component video input. PIP is a real plus (yes, it has dual tuner).
The speakers are little shaky when it comes to lower bass sounds, specialy at higher volumes. I'd recommend to get external sound system (receiver + good quality home theater speakers).
It has built-in rating protection chip, however the password setup is not protected - any 8 year old kid can reset it.
Remote has VCR controls, which lets you to eliminate on remote (except recording operations).
Pluses: great picture, very sleek design (side positioned speakers make it look more like wide angle TVs). Remote navigation is really nice and simple.

This is a wonderful TV for the price. I spent 3 months tring to decide on a new 32 inch and I settled on this one. As far as picture quality, it is amazing. I has to be the best non-flat screen, tube TV on the market today.

Now as for the weakness, the internal speakes tend to cause the cabnet to vibrate during bass heavy scores. However, this is hardly a reason not to buy the unit. I simply use the very well balanced outputs and an intergrated amp.

Note: This unit truly comes to life using the component inputs with a good to great DVD player. Also, it will not worl with a progressive scan DVD player.

Strength:

Sleek look, great sound, crisp picture, can't go wrong with JVC's.

Weakness:

A Bit overpriced

If you're looking at a flatscreen, and settle on a stardard television, no matter how impressive the TV may be, it will never reach your expectations.

Now, with that in mind, let's take a look at this JVC. I went looking for a large 32"er, the crisper the image, the better. We come from a family of JVC televisions, and have never been let down. I was looking for a television that had the picture quality I was looking for, as well as the capabilities to connect various devices to it, without getting into the realm of flatscreens, bigscreens, or HDTV's. This model has 2 s-video inputs, as well as component inputs in the front.

The sound quality is awesome, as is its sharp appearance. You can even set the TV to wake you up in the mornings on whatever channel you want! Too bad you can be specific on the volume. I go to bed with the TV sleep timer and the volume relatively low, so low that it doesn't wake me in the morning... but that's what alarm clocks are for right?

This model is the next level up from the AV 32D302. A couple of hundred bucks for an extra S-video input is a bit pricey, but hey, I bought it anyways.

I love panasonic products, as well as sony, but JVC seems to make GREAT quality televisions. Their construction is solid and doesn't feel like it would ever break. So solid that if we were to personify JVC televisions, he'd be the bully of TV's in his class. Besides, we've had another JVC for 6 years and have never had a problem with it either.

I gave it 4 stars for value, cause it could easily be 100 bucks cheaper. 4 stars overall, cause it didn't surpass my expectations, it honestly met them.

Strength:

Connectivity, component video picture

Weakness:

Somewhat sensitive to unshielded sub placed nearby

The D series gives you a real nice picture, esp from the DVD connected via a good component cable. If you are looking for something of real quality in between the $$$ Sonys and the low price Sharps out there in the 32" world, this is it. (I refuse to get digital TV until it gets more widespread and less $$$).
Was surprised that a 6th Ave store here in NJ matched an internet price of $598 (was listed in store at $699) I had been trying price match w/ Sears, but you know the drill w/ those lame stores...not in stock, not sure how long if you order it, yadda yadda.
The BBE and HyperSurround give passable TV sound from the small side mounted speakers, which also yield good stereo separation (vs. bottom mounted speakers).
The side mounted speakers also yield a small 27" cabinent top to bottom, which helped it fit nicely into my entertainment center w/ its existing AV component shelving above the TV.
The remote lights up, but only the CH and VOL buttons, which are easy enuff to find by feel anyway because of their position and shape. Hey JVC, why not make the light feature REALLY useful and light up the channel number buttons and some of the other critical function buttons like INPUT select.
And now if I can only figure out how to split/re-wire my stupid cable box in order to use the PIP...

Strength:

Outstanding picture, sleek look, price

Weakness:

none that I have detected so far

After looking at a number of different reviews and going to various stores, I was left deciding between this JVC, the Toshiba 32A41, and the Sony KV 32S42. All seemed to be fine TVs, but I felt that JVC's quality balanced with price (I did an online pricematch at Sears) won out. I don't think you can get more bang for your buck (unless you drop PIP and go w/ the 32D302, but Sears doesn't carry and Circuit City wouldn't come down from $599 on the 302 model). I think that in order to get a better picture, you actually need to jump to the Sony's Flatscreen model (or other makes for that matter). The connectivity is outstanding. Just a very fine TV overall. Highest marks!

Strength:

Inputs, picture, & price

Weakness:

None to speak of so far

I'm a relative novice at this, but I read reviews and compared prices on all the 32" TV's in my price range. This model stood out by far in my opinion. JVC tends to produce a quality TV from the research I've done, and the price ultimately realed me in. Now I enjoy a large, crisp and vivrant picture to go along with my new Receiver and DVD player for a complete entertainment center.

Because I really don't have much to compare it to, I'm giving it a 4 for an overall rating. I'm sure there are better products on the market in 32" TV's, but not one that's better for the price. This one definately kills anything in it's price range. If you don't have more than 600 or 700 dollars to spend, this your TV. If you're not interested in the PIP feature, then consider the 302 model at a much better price.
