none Love this TV especially the price I paid for it. I work for AAFES so I brought this TV once it got discountinued and got it at very low price! The only problem I have is when watching DVD's using component video out the word component will flash through out the entire movie like evey 3 minutes or so. Does anyone have any advice on this?? |

Strength:
Thin, light, easy to use menus, lots of features, LCD so no burn in or grey bars in 4:3 Normal mode, cheapest widescreen around.
Weakness:
Blacks not real deep, some modes don't work when using component inputs. Bought it for $1895 on sale from Consumer Direct Warehouse. Pretty good for a 16:9 set. I went with an LCD because I wanted to watch TV w/o those bright grey bars found on the Toshiba CRT widescreens. I was also worried about burn in from video games. So far I love it. I'm used to a 27" Sony Trinitron, so widescreen DVD's look huge on this set. It has great menus with plenty of features and tweaks. The aspect ratio button accesses the many widescreen mode, only the bad thing is they can only be used from the S-video or composite inputs. Oh well. The set is really thin, great for a bedroom or apartment. It has a built-in line doubler, and uses a progressive scan system, so no scan lines are visible from very close. I sit about 6-7 ft away. Anamorphic DVD's look incredible. If you want to get the most out of your DVD collection for a lower price than other widescreens, check it out!! |

This is an excellent TV. If anyone can tell me where I might find it cheap through the internet, please email me at rburkes@clarksdale.com. As I said this is an awesome TV, and it is perfect for DVD. The picture is gorgeous. Thanks for any response! |

Color is a little off but tweakable,Component inputs While Samsung Customer Services does suck, if you get the distributer whom you bought the TV from, you'll get it fixed. The only problem I HAD was the component inputs would show a whitish bar at the top and it would flicker making the whole screen flicker. After a while of the service center getting an updated part, it works fine now. From what I understand it is the same part as the one that is causing the other component input problems. If any one at Samsung gives any problems, Dan Gerdley is the supervisor I had to talk to. The part that was an un-updated part was the ProScan Module. I absolutely love thihs TV, it's just Samsung is slow about figuring out what is wrong. It took them keeping the tv for 5 months at the local shop and me calling the distributer to get action. They knew who to talk to to get it down. In less than 2 weeks after I called the distributer, they had it fixed for me. |

Strength:
In this price range it is the only TV you consider
Weakness:
It takes some color adjusting to make perfect This TV has high resolution, has a flat wide screen ratio, and is well under two thousand dollars. Try finding a comparable TV close to that price. |

Strength:
Inexpensive, very clear picture, lightweight, bright display
Weakness:
Component input does not work correctly (and Samsung can't say way not), no auto-scaling, you can't zoom using component inputs, Samsung tech support is *WORSE THAN USELESS*!!!!! This is not a bad choice for an inexpensive widescreen TV. It's lightweight, the picture is very sharp, and it's very bright. |

Strength:
lightweight, 16:9, good color saturation
Weakness:
picture not sharp compared to tube tvs I too have had the flickering at the top of the screen with component input. I have been calling Samsung about this for four-five months and they keep trying to make me go away. The latest from them is the part I need to get this fixed is back-ordered and they have no idea when it is supposed to come in. I hope I am not going to have to file some kind of small claims suit against them but I will if I have to. My advice is buy the TV but forget about using the component inputs. Also, don't buy the TV if you want a really sharp picture; get the Sony Wega for about the same price and don't plan on moving it around (200 lbs+ from what I understand). Of note, Samsung has replaced this TV with a different model # but I am not sure of the nature of the changes they made, if any. Similar Products Used: JVC 27" |
