Strength:

Crisp images. The boxy cabinet design provides vital extra shelving, and it's black color helps to separate it from any room lighting. Although the convergence feature isn't automatic as in some other brands, it is easy to use. After which, I get great color continuity. The PIP/POP dynamics are very nice also. Word has it that Mitsu picture tubes are very durable, and outlast many others.I'm duly impressed with the engineering qualities of the picture screen clarity. Go to www.mitsubishi-tv.com for more info.

Weakness:

The best audio it has is a basic, outdated, surround sound that was premier in the 80's. In todays arena of Dolby Digital, SRS WOW audio provided in other brands, I feel that they could've at least offered 5.1 audio to stay competitive. It sure helps the dialogue, particularly in action DVD's. Some brands offer woofers & tweeters, this has only 2 speakers. It is a must to connect a home audio system. That'll add overall energy costs to an already high 240w, compared to 180w-190w in other HDTV's. No DVI connector. This is bad for me because I built a PC w/ATI AIW 9700 Pro for HDTV. Using the three color component cable, I get an error code in the 1080i mode for just trying to view copy guarded DVD's. I ordered a DVI-HDTV adaptor from ATI, hopefully that'll fix it. The viewing angle is a pathetic 110 deg. Looking at a TV straight across is 90 deg. That leaves only 20 deg. on either side to see the full brightness of the screen. In a basic living room with sofa, loveseat,& chair, it's almost impossible to see it's full brightness from every seat. Others offer a 160 deg. viewing angle. It doesn't accept 720p signals.

I bought this model after returning a Philips 60" that clearly didn't work well. This one can provide a beautiful experience under the right conditions, i.e. viewing it from straight across, while seated.

Strength:

Great picture Ease of use Nice design

Weakness:

Reds are a little hot, although this years model allows you to reduce the red through the advance menu.

Picture is sharp however the VSM and the Image sharpness adj (standard or reduction)Seem to do the same thing, if you turn off the VSM the pic seems soft to the point of alomst being a little out of focus, if you leave it on you get a grainy look, but if you play with the sharpness control you can tune it to your likeing. Over all the pic quality is great, especially on DVD with using the component jacks.

Strength:

Good Picture Good Sound Color optimmized protective screen Easy to set up

Weakness:

Poor remote design

The WS-55411 is an excellent set for the money. Purchased during a one-day sale and got a screaming deal. Great picture, red seems to be off slightly. Remote could have been designed better. Compares nicely to the new Hitachi. Built in sound also good for those of us who do not have a sound system yet. Many varied inputs and also has TV output. Invest in good input cables.
