Strength:

EXCELLENT PICTURE QUALITY

Weakness:

NONE SO FAR

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST RPTV THAT I HAVE OWNED.My friends alyays comment how it looks like a real tv, tube that is.
I do have it hoked up to dss so that does it. The cable t.v.
picture was pretty bad so i went with dss and WOW........
Excellent menus and the sound on this tv is awesome. I do have the 55705, 55" instead of 50" otherwise same set.
Dont go buy what the picture looks like in the store, it is a night and day difference on ALL rptv .

Strength:

Excellent Picture

Weakness:

Sound could be better.

Very good picture. Bought TV to replace Philip Magnov Projection TV and was total blown away by the picture. I have the V60707 and I love it. The only picture I saw that was better was on the Digital sets. Love the PIP option.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality, especially through component inputs. Automatic compensation for room light levels.

Weakness:

Clock & Memory battery backup is weak

Overall I think this TV is an excellent product. The image quality is very good, and friends constantly note that it's one of the best projection pictures they have seen. The image quality from DVD stood out in a store full of competition, in order to improve I would have had to go to the yet to be determined HDTV standard. Not worth the $ at this time when flat screens will soon be reasonably priced.

I like the screen shield, and the ability to view this set from angles. Unfortunately my room configuraiton isn't ideal, so I have two recliner's with view the set from about a 35-40 degree angle. This was a major consideration in buying this set, the picture quality remains intact well past 45 degrees.

I had one problem in the beginning with the set "losing it's sanity" ocationaly. This was solved by resetting the TV (the real reset in the tech menu, not the user menu) and things have been fine ever since.

I have not had to adjust any convergiance (sp?) settings to date, and I am impressed with the advanced 64 grid point setting capability of this set.

I also learned two things about a big screen and cable TV. When your cable signal sucks, boy does a big TV show it. And what's with the 6" high station logo's? I think big screen owners should unit in a cause to elimate those stupid things! The flip side is a letterbox movie off is a good size and fantastic resolution.

My only disapointment is if I had waited another six months I'd have had one certified HDTV ready. Oh well, guess that's all the excuse I need to put this one in the gameroom and buy a bigger one for the entertainment center! For those that haven't read any of my other reviews, I keep priorities strait and buy toys over other useless household items like kitchen tables. However I did fianlly start on building a nice oak ding room table to replace the plastic one I am currently utilizing for this purpose.

Strength:

It has a very bright picture. Looks more like a tube set than a rear projection.

Weakness:

Stand is a little low, you really need to view it sitting down. Wish the remote was programmable. It does all the major functions of my Hughes DSS, except exiting out of the on-screen guide, making it useless to replace that remote. (very annoying).

I have the 55705 (55" version) I looked a quite a few RPTV's in the same price range fron the Sony V series, Pioneer, Hitachi, Toshiba, and none of the others had as nice a picture as the Mitsubishi.

just recieved this model as a replacement to last years diamond series 50"(prehdtv). the old one had a convergence problem that the tech could not fix. hats off to mitsubishi for taking the set back. the new set is far superior to the old set in every respect. color, brightness, features and detail could not be better for a non hdtv set, and they lowered the price!

Strength:

Picture quality, inputs, protective screen, feature rich

Weakness:

color bleeding when using component from dvd

This was the best RPTV I could find in the mass market world only the Sony came close, but I found the Mitsu a little brighter and had more control for tweaking. I have been disappointed with apparent color bleeding whenever I watch dvd's. I'm not sure if it's the mediocre monster cables, or my entry-level dvd (sony 530 no lip-sync problems!). If someone knows what's going on let me know. It can be annoying to see discoloration on peoples faces when they are in front of bold horizontal lines. It only happens when there is a bold horizontal line as opposed to a vertical line and it only happens when there are large, light-colored objects (usually faces) in front of the horizontal line (the background horizon or the outline of buildings/objects, or stripes from signs and such).

Other than this one thing, I do not regret the purchase. The picture is awsome and I get comments from all my friends and family of how bright and clear the picture is for an RPTV (and that's from other owners of similar products from makers such as Sony, Hitachi, Toshiba, Magnavox, to name a few)

Strength:

Eye popping picture, very clear.

This unit has the best picture. When I walked into the show room, they have pioneer, sony and hitachi side by side. But I "blind fold" myself not to look at the name brand and concentrate on the picture. I looked at the picture, the color, the pictures edges, mitsubishi has the BEST picture. Not only that, in that price range, only Mitsubishi has the BEST digital comb filter(3D Y/C Combfilter) which can mostly be found on HDTV. I glad I made the purchase and its the best rptv.
