I bought a Hitachi 43UWX10B in 2001. It hummed, so I got it replaced within the first two weeks. Three years later, the convergence started acting up. It is now usless for viewing although the sound is good for XM. It had a great HD picture when it was new. I have read plenty of reviews, gotten several repair estimates, and have now come to the same conclusion as many: No more Hitachi. It is a piece of junk. I paid 1700 dollars for it. Looks like it's going to the dump.

I bought a 57" Hitachi CRT in 2006, new from HHGregg. After just over 1 year I had an issue with a grean cast, tint picture. Service guy calibrated it. Went out again in less than another year. Service said I needed a new board (p/n JT25052R). The "R" stands for "rebuilt" because Hitachi doesn't even make this part for a product they sold me less than 3 years ago. You have to wait until someone sends one in and they can rebuild it and then sell it to you. The part is on back order and they can't even tell me how long it will be before I can get one. The law says they need to have parts available for 7 years. This is bullsh*t! I'm filing a complaint with the California AG's office and the BBB. Service guy told me that based on his experiance, it could be months. Yes, I actually called Hitachi and verified this. Hitachi stinks. This is the last Hitachi product I'll ever buy.

Strength:

Have not had a single problem with it

Weakness:

None for my uses

I have had this unit since 2001 and It has worked flawlessly. I am thinking of replacing just to get hdmi and and a larger screen. Sorry for everyone elses problems but I have had none. It has also sat in the exact same spot for the entire time I have owned it maybe they move theirs around alot or something.

Strength:

Great picture first year

Weakness:

After the first year everything

Bought the unit at Sears and it worked great for the first year. After 13 months the picture would go black. Hitachi would not help and Sears wanted 1200 for the extended service plan. Repair came to 150. Lasted another 8 months and another 150. lasted another six months and became a great plant hold. A piece of junk and the last Hitachi product I will ever buy. Also beware of Sears as talking to the Hitachi reps they do not support units purchased from Sears

Strength:

None............

Weakness:

Expensive and failed multiple times after 4 years

Purchased Hitachi 43UWX10B about 4 years ago. Had a convergence problem recently which would have costed about $400.00 to repair but found help on the web and purchased a kit for about $40.00 and repaired myself. Now (5 months later) another problem - the red power light comes on but nothing else works.

HITACHI SUCKS - their customer service refuses to provide any help except to provide the names of rip off service centers.

Will never buy another HITACHI product ever again.

Customer Service

Sucks, terrible - no help at all..

Strength:

Nothing in particular.

Weakness:

Dying after 5 years, needing expensive repairs. TV is losing convergence.

My 25 year old Zenith is still working great and it never missed a beat.

The TV has been fine for the last 5 years, nothing to write home about but the sound is good and the picture has been alright.

Weakness:

Needs expensive repair after 4 years

I guess I should feel pretty fortunate after reading some of the other reviews in regards to the 43" Hitachi widescreen. Mine lasted just over four years before it went bad (convergence problem). A minimum $500 to have it repaired. I spoke with Hitachi customer service. Apparently there haven't been enough problems to warrant any kind of recall. Like many others before me, this will be my last Hitachi anything.

Strength:

Great pic for the first 1 to 2 years

Weakness:

Pic weakens by just over 2 years to never be the same. And then it leaves all together and has a hefty price tag to repair.

Seemed great - but all at once the picture goes away and after about 30 to 60 seconds the set starts beeping. Sometimes it will have been on for hours before it goes black, others for minutes. I cannot believe we paid 2100 for this unit. $700 a year seems a bit steep to pay for a TV. And the repair costs we've had estimated just don't warrant us throwing good money after bad. We'll probably just walk away and call it a learning experience. A costly one. As my name says, Fool Me Once Shame - shame on you and fool me twice shame on me. We won't be buying another Hitachi. For the money we spent and the on-going probs people have had with this set, you'd think Hitachi would do something to make it right. So, like I said - no more Hitachi's in this house.
