I purchased these a few days ago. They are incredibly clear, and they are capable of handling low signals. Recommended.

Strength:

to carry absolute truth of signal

Weakness:

none found yet

I am so disappointed with the overall stupidity of the sitcoms now presented on TV, that I turned toward VHS movies and as the sound systems in the theatres became upgraded, suddenly my two 3" TV speakers just didn't compete. So, I started reading and talking and perusing this site, which got me focused on speakers. The SR-170 replaced the Bose 201s which were all I had and what a difference! I already knew of the great sound/value ratio of Paradigm. I attribute the improvement largely to the direction of the speakers for the room just fills up with sound and it is as if you are right there!
I know every system is only as good as its weakest link, and with the SR-170s you can be sure that you would have to pay a GREAT DEAL MORE MONEY to improve noticeably on the effect. The main attribute is a wide disbursement of clear sound that fills the room.

The ADP-170 are really amazing surround speakers. I tested my home theather first using 2 mini monitors as rear surrounds. Since my room is not so large, the mini monitors did not perform well: the location of the sound was too obvious and distracting. After replacing them with ADP-170, the surround sound was incredible! The sound was very difuse and envolving as it sould always be. Highly recommended!

My speakers:
Front...Mini-Monitors
Center..CC-350
Rear....ADP-170
Sub.....PDR-12

Strength:

very diffuse soundfield, can handle low frequency signals, price

Weakness:

none

I auditioned these speakers, along with the ADP-370s. To me, the increased dynamic capabilities of the 370s were not worth almost doubling the price. These speakers throw out a large diffuse soundfield, have an extended high frequency response, and can handle low frequencies. With movies like Saving Private Ryan, that have full range surround mixes, they kept up with the fronts very well. An excellent value, as are almost all of Paradigm's speakers. Highly recommended.

My system:
L/R: Paradigm Exports (bipolar)
Center: Paradigm CC-350
Surrounds: Paradigm ADP-170s
Denon AVR-2700 DD receiver
