This surround 5.1 pair of CSW is extremely accurate. They produce very accurate surround and ambien effects. At first I hated them because I thought they were small and when I played music, they didn't seem to produce full range music playback and then after i bought the Mirage FRX-Rear surround from Mirage then I discovered that the Surround 5.1 pair was designed to be surround and produce AMBIEN EFFECTS only and not for full range as I WANTED. They are not easily localized. The FRX-rear are so easliy localized. So any one who would like to purcahse a rear speakers, then go with this pair.

I am generally a fan of Cambridge Soundworks speakers. For the money I feel that they are top shelf. I presently use the CSW Tower IIs, Centerstage, and Powered Sub. For surround speakers I use the Optimus Pro NX77s, which are bookshelf MONOPOLE speakers. I have tried both the CSW Surround speakers (dipole only) and the CSW Surround 5.1s with my system and returned them both. I felt that sound out of these speakers is terrible. Just try hooking them up as front left and right speakers and listen to stereo music (for the 5.1s use bipole mode), if you do you won't believe how bad the sound is compared to standard bookshelf speakers. In this age of Dolby Digital and DTS go monopole for pure sound and forget a technology that is supposed to make a speaker sound like a "diffuse" source!

Strength:

Great sound, Great price

Weakness:

These guys do what they were designed to do...deliver good sound for a home theater setup. I have hung mine on the side walls, 3 feet abve me and 1 foot behind and they deliver a sonic knockout on DD and DTS recordings...they are not meant to be full range as the sub and mains will produce the low freq. response for them. The small size does not reflect small performance. They are well built and come with a 10 yr. warranty! Listening to Pvt. Ryan in DTS was frightening...in a good sense!! Either way, you can try them for 45 days in home and return them if not completely satified...which I am. CSW speakers in general are a super value.
