Speaker level connection does not offer the same excellent sound as its line level connection

One must underderstand that a Bass Player cannot live with a stereo system that couldn't plunge well below 40Hz. Being endowed with such an affliction (bass playing), I had to get me a subwoofer.

My unit is the VA1012XIIE. I auditioned quite a lot of subs available from different dealers. I listened to Paradigm, B&W ASWs, Infinity, PSB, Energy, Dynaquest, M&K. It took me about a month to finally narrow down my choice to two: M&K V125THX and Velodyne VA1012XIIE. The dealer demoed the subs in music & movie mode. For movie, the dealer used "Volcano" DVD. With the M&K, we can hear the volcano errupting. With the Velodyne, we can FEEL the volcano errupting! Prodigious clean deep sound/vibration, and the flooring jolts and shakes. Living in an earthquake prone country, I know how it feels having the real thing. With the Velodyne, it's realistically damn scary! My handy Radio Shack SPL meter whipped 105dB, which means this beast just hurdled the required minimum SPL level for THX specification!

And I thought that was the best part. When the dealer hit stop button of the DVD player and thumbed the CD player, "inviting" Stanley Clark (Illegal CD) into the room, I was stultified. Slap bass has never been this good. Every bass note was so defined. I forgot to breath in the entire track. The synergy of bass-less NHT SuperZero and Velodyne VA1012XIIE was a cheap ticket to sonic nirvana! In front of me were about four VA1012s on display and only one is playing. I swear I couldn't pinpoint which sub is on. Transparency to the max!

I was sold. On to the credit card, wham baam! "Thank you Ma'am" I said to the lady cashier.

I am now a proud owner of a subwoofer that is superb for either music or movies at an affordable price. Thanks to Velodyne! By the way, I indeed up buying the NHT SuperZeros too to get the same ecstacy I had at the dealer showroom.
