I've been waiting to justify a high quality subwoofer since I got out of college in '91. Having finally gotten there, I decided to grab one of the FSR-18's being discontinued (and discounted).
Great choice. This speaker was strong right out of the box. After I selected the switching positions on the rear (to match my Polk RTA15t's) it blended in spectacularly. I quickly put on my Tchaikovsky 1812 disc (Telarc) and played through the cannon fire. Simply put, it was impressive. My main speakers had always failed at anything past a quiet setting, but this thing practically blasted holes in my ceiling. The relief on my Polk's was evident, as they handled everything else with aplomb.

I've noticed in older reviews below that a lot of folks got speakers with bad amps upon delivery. My dealer actually pre-warned me that roughly 10% of the subs he sells end up having shipping damage to the amp. Mine was in fine shape upon arrival, but I have to agree with the other comments about the packaging being a little sparse at this price point. If the amps (which he said were easy to replace) are sensitive, they deserve a little better protection.

But, I'm not reviewing other people's experiences. If I were, I would give a 4 for the damage my dealer said is common - but I had no problems whatsoever, so this sub does everything I have asked, and then some.
